Frances Hamilton celebrates 100th birthday

Frances Hamilton, born Sept. 5, 1918, celebrated her 100th birthday with a party at Meadowview Assisted Living last week. She is a 1940 graduate of the University of Tennessee. Family traveled from Little Rock, Ark., Pennsylvania, and Chicago, Ill., for the party. She was present when Franklin Roosevelt dedicated Norris Dam in 1936, and for the dedication of the Great Smokey National Park in 1940. She is pictured with her daughter Frances Hamilton Oates, left, and Pam Forgety of Meadowview. — Kim Webber
