Tennessee is in the Top 5 highest fatality rates from choking and suffocation
Every year, more than 160,000 Americans die as a result of an unintentional household injury, making accidents the third biggest cause of death across the country.
Choking or suffocation is the No. 3 cause of unintentional injury deaths, and ages 0-4 are at highest risk.
There are two choking or suffocation related deaths per 100,000 people nationwide.
Tennessee is among the top five states with the highest fatality rates for choking and suffocation deaths in the US.
And according to a recent State of Safety Survey, 38-percent of Tennessee residents rated it as a top safety concern.
The national level of concern is 31-percent for choking and 40-percent for all household-related accidents overall.
