Imogene “Jean” Duncan
Imogene “Jean” Duncan, 72, left this world to have a reunion with her family that has left before her on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024 following almost a year-long battle with cancer. After hating her feeding tube for so long, we’re sure she’s not hungry anymore! Every chemo treatment when Jean would hear someone being able to ring the victory bell, she would say “I don’t believe I’ll ever get to ring that.” She may not have gotten her healing on the earthly side, but she rang her own victory bell on Wednesday.
Jean was a 1970 graduate of Oliver Springs High School. She left Roane Hosiery Mill in Harriman, Tennessee in 2001 after 31 years where she performed many jobs. Jean worked for the Anderson County School System as a custodian for 20 years. After retiring just 3 short years ago she had more time to enjoy working in her flowerbeds, mowing grass, watching old black and white tv shows (Matt Dillon was a favorite), watching Nascar races and cheering on the Vols.
Jean has met up with her daddy and mommy, Pat and Cora Duncan; brothers, Clifford, Everett, Troy and David Duncan; sisters, Shirley Lowe, Patsy Ward, and Sreldia Duncan; niece, Karen Duncan, nephew, Brad Duncan, great nephew, Lincoln Aslinger and an adopted sister, Shirley Haydon.
Jean has left her brother, Mack and wife Dyan Duncan of Oliver Springs, Tennessee; sisters, Wilma and husband Frank Phllips of Oliver Springs, and Jeanie and husband “Pike” LaMance of Wartburg, Tennessee. Sister-in-law, Beatrice Duncan of Harriman, and brother-in-law, Grant Lowe of Oliver Springs.
Fourteen nieces and nephews: Judy, Terry, Juanita, Betty Ann, Marquetta, JoAnn, Cindy, Wendy, Mindy, Tonya, Andy, Rusty, Julie and Mattie.
Thirty-six great nieces and nephews and twenty-seven great great nieces and nephews. Close ones include Chris, Justin, Ashley, Misty, Kristy, Cody, Adam, Kelly, Holly, Logan, Trent, Chloe, Cameron, Summitt, Lakely, Jaxon, Charlee, Owen, and Raigan.
Jean also leaves three fellers she loved like blood Josh Zisman, Christopher Aslinger and Todd Williams along with many cousins from Toledo, Ohio.
