Carolyn Sue Boggs

Carolyn Sue Boggs, 85, of Clinton passed away peacefully Aug. 21, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Born May 16, 1941, in Dunham, Kentucky, to William and Mildred Childers, she grew up in Cumberland, Kentucky.

She was known as “Sue” to her friends and “Grammie” to her family.

Sue will be remembered for her loyalty, friendship, generosity and willingness to give anything she could to help the people she loved. She also shared her love of God with everyone she met.

Sue was a member of First Baptist Church in Clinton, where she taught Sunday school for 35 years.

She also volunteered at the service center, helping provide food and clothing to those in need.

Sue became well-known as a prominent woodcarver, ,and created Santa Claus folk art carvings that have been distributed across the United States.

Sue will be remembered for her warmth, quiet strength and devotion to her family and her Savior, Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her children, Suzi Schmidt (Eric), Brent Boggs (Christy) and Bradley Boggs (Ilah); grandchildren, Daniel Schmidt (Liz), Clay Schmidt, Maddie Herring (Wriley), Sarah Boggs, Kate Boggs, Benjamin Boggs, Caden Boggs and Joshua Boggs; great-grandchildren; and many close friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Delano Boggs.

A memorial service was held Monday, Aug. 24, 2026, at First Baptist Church, 225 N. Main St., Clinton. The family receive friends from noon to 12:30 p.m. with a memorial service from 12:30 to 1 p.m. The graveside service followed.

Her family is grateful for the kindness and support shown during this time.
