Randall Scott Burress
Randall Scott Burress, a resident of Powell, passed away Aug. 23, 2026, at the age of 73. He is now reunited with his father, Esco E. Burress, and stepfather, Gregory Roettger, who preceded him in death.
Scott was known as the life of the party and had a quick, peculiar wit. He was a passionate and talented musician, but his talent wasn’t limited to a single instrument — he could play almost anything he picked up.
His artistic ability extended to many parts of his life. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in art education from the University of Tennessee and had gifts for restoring old cars and calligraphy. Playing his guitar brought him immeasurable joy, but above all, his greatest earthly joy was his family. Like his music, he was passionate about his roots and genealogy.
He is survived by and will be deeply missed by his mother, Juanita Wright Burress; sisters, Kathy Burress Pemberton and husband Bill, and Sheree Long and husband Walter; nieces, Stephanie Brock and Nicole Turner; nephews, Mack Miller, Gary Miller and Chance Long; and many great-nieces, great-nephews and special friends.
Services will be held at a later date. Family and friends are invited to stop by Holley-Gamble Funeral Home this week to sign a register book for the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home is proud to serve the Burress family.
