James H. Comer
James H. Comer, 79, of LaFollette passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025.
Born on Oct. 22, 1945, James was one of 12 children of the late Benjamin and Dorothy Comer. He was a simple man who devoted his life to hard work, farming and raising cattle. For many years, he owned and operated J and R Tire in South Clinton. He was a member of Big Brick Church, and his grandchildren were the lights of his life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ben Comer, Kenneth Comer and Jerry Comer; and sisters, Sarah Cast, Liz Wilson and Kathy Kitts.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carol Comer; son, Robbie Comer and wife Jamie; daughter, Candace Gibbs and husband Robbie. He was “Pappy” to his grandchildren, Christopher Gibbs, Ashley Gibbs and Jayden Comer; great-granddaughter, Aliyah Gibbs; brothers, Bill Comer, Kermit Comer, Charles Comer and J.W. Comer; sister, Effie Hooks “Aunt T”; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and special friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. The service will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Ronnie Poston officiating. The family will be laying him to rest privately.
