Ellis Carden
Ellis Carden, 79, of Clinton, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.
He was born Aug. 5, 1945, to Zelmer Carden and Della Thomas Carden. Ellis enjoyed Tennessee sports and was an avid fan of the Lady Vols. He enjoyed four-wheeling with his brother Bruce and sitting on the front porch visiting with neighbors. A hard worker, Ellis always liked to stay busy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gaye Carden; daughter, Lori Carden; son, Ralph Jackson; brothers, Junior Carden, Leonard Carden, Glenith “Preach” Carden and Bruce Carden; and sisters, Louise Harlas, Reba Daniels and Betty Jo Beach.
He is survived by his son, Jeff Jackson and wife Stacey; former daughter-in-law, Sue Jackson Harness; sister-in-law, Nancy Carden; and brother-in-law, Mitch Dougherty and wife Denise.
He is also survived by grandchildren, Nathan Jackson and wife Jessica, Cole Jackson and wife Jennifer, Kristina Knight, and Logan Jackson; great-grandchildren, Molly Jackson and Blu Sky Knight; honorary family, Sarita Evans, Nicole Jones, Audrey and Olivia Douglass; and special caregivers, Caitlyn, Kate, Caycie, Jennifer and Jared; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the Palliative Care team at Methodist Medical Center, especially Chaplain Les.
The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Jones Mortuary in Clinton.
The funeral followed at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Jeff Hawkins officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at East Wolf Valley Baptist Church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Jones Mortuary to assist with funeral arrangements.
