WILLIAM BERRY PACE

William Berry Pace, 29, passed away Jan. 8, 2019.

William had a passion for music especially playing guitar, a love for his family and friends and a special bond with his dog, Ozzy.

William is survived by: Parents, William E. and Joanna Pace; sisters, Sarah Hardin (Russell), Rebecca Pace, Emily Harper (John); grandmother, Chloe Ann Ward; niece, Avery Hubbard; nephew, Hudson Harper; uncles, Eric Ward (Kim), Perry Ward (Tracy); a special friend, Mason Barton; and a host of cousins.

He was preceded in death by: Grandparents, Harold and Sue Pace and Herbert Ward; and a special "son," Jayce.

The family will receive friends from 3 – 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, at Family Funeral Care. The services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, at Family Funeral Care.

The burial will take place at Memphis Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Crosstown Arts or Bartlett Animal Shelter.

JOHN LOGAN SCUDDER

John Logan Scudder, 21, Andersonville, passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at his home in Andersonville.

He was born Aug. 30, 1997. John enjoyed skateboarding, playing his guitar, and video games. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.

John was preceded in death by his grandmother, Vera Jo Scudder, and grandfather, Albert Elliott.

John is survived by: Parents, John Matthew and Valerie Scudder; brother, Matthew Justin Scudder; Mee Mee, Lela Elliott; and many other family and friends.

John’s family received his friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, in the chapel of Jones Mortuary with his celebration of life following at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Larry Ridenour officiating.

MARGIE CALLOWAY

Margie Calloway, 80, Knoxville, formerly of Clinton, passed away at her residence Jan. 7, 2019.

Throughout her life she loved working in the garden, flower arranging, and spending time with her family. Margie was of the Baptist Faith and was born May 21, 1938, to the late Theodore and Mary Ward.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by: Husband, Clarence Ray Calloway; sister, Myrtle Parks; brother, Charles Ward.

She is survived by: Daughter, Charllet Owens and husband Mitch of Knoxville; brother, Wendell Ward of Clinton; granddaughter, Michelle Dees and husband Gary; grandson, Braxton Dees; stepson, Gary Calloway and wife Mary Ann; stepgrandchildren, Josh Calloway and Rachel Shults; several nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home.

Her funeral services followed in the chapel with the Rev. Mark Acres officiating. Margie’s graveside was at noon Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, at Woodhaven Memorial Garden.

JOIE LORETTA HELTON BULLOCK

On Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, Joie Loretta Helton Bullock, went to be with The Lord at age 87.

Joie was born Aug. 22, 1931, in Evarts, Ky., to Glen Drefus Helton and Lela Peace Helton. She moved to Toledo where she met her husband, Clyde Bullock Jr., and raised one son, Clyde (Pete) Eugene Bullock, and one daughter, Pamela Irene Bullock Seay. Later she moved to Piqua, Ohio, to raise her family and then to Lake City, now Rocky Top.

Joie enjoyed attending church, crocheting, camping, writing to pen friends around the world, crosswords and spending time with her loved ones.

She was proceeded in death by: Parents, Glen and Lela; brothers, Eugene, Glen Jr., Virgil, Raymond, Harold; and sisters, Doris and Orilla.

She is survived by: Husband, Clyde; and her two children, Pete (Mary Ann) and Pam (Robert); four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth (Pam) and Donald (Linda); sister, Dessie Kanniard (Harold); and numerous nieces and nephews.

After a service at Holley Gamble Funeral Home she was interred at Leach Cemetery in Rocky Top.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Alzheimer’s Tennessee.

ROSIA LEE ‘COTTON’ SHEPHERD

Rosia Lee “Cotton” Shepherd, 78, Clinton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at Norris Health and Rehab in Andersonville.

Cotton loved her home where she lived. She loved her family, reading, and working in her yard, especially with her roses. Her favorite bird was hummingbirds. Cotton was an animal lover, especially dogs.

Cotton was preceded in death by: Parents, Leonzia and Mallie Gilbrath Smith; brother, George Smith; sisters, Mary Seiber and Jo Relford.

Cotton is survived by: Husband, Clifford Shepherd; daughter, Barbara Harris of Clinton; sister, Elzie Patterson of Rocky Top; granddaughter, Sonya Daniel (Marty) of Clinton; two great-grandchildren, Hayley Currier and Hunter Currier; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Cotton’s family received her friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, in the chapel of Jones Mortuary with her celebration of life to follow at 8 p.m. with Bro. Robert Jones officiating.

Her interment was at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, at Gilbrath cemetery in the Marlow community.

ROY E. WOODWARD

Roy E. Woodward, 84, Clinton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at his home in Clinton with his wife of 61 years, Dorothy, by his side.

Roy was born in Nevisdale, Ky., to Millard and Lola (Siler) Woodward. He was the sixth of seven children. The family moved to Lake City when he was young, and he attended Lake City High School where he met his future wife Dorothy. Even as a young man, he loved being around children, and many of his and Dorothy's dates included Roy giving Dorothy's younger brother guitar lessons or taking one of Roy's nephews or nieces fishing. After their marriage in 1957 Roy worked mostly in the insurance business, which led to them traveling to many different cities and making friends along the way. In retirement, they returned to East Tennessee and settled in Clinton. His family and friends will always remember his generosity, sense of humor, and devotion to his loved ones.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Earl, Neal, Jay, Faye Perry, and Patsy Guyton.

He is survived by: Wife, Dorothy; daughter, Robin (Lee) Cravey; son, Neal (Cindy) Woodward; beloved granddaughters, Mary Woodward and Hannah Cravey; sister, Winnifred Becker; and many nieces and nephews.

The family is planning a private memorial service at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

CAROLYN BRADLEY

Carolyn Bradley, 74, Clinton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Carolyn enjoyed having yard sales. She also enjoyed finding bargains at flea markets and yard sales.

Carolyn was preceded in death by: Parents, Raymond and Elizabeth Phillips; and brother, Fred Foust.

She is survived by: Husband, Richard Bradley of Clinton; son, Phillip Richard Bradley of Clinton; brother, Carl Foust and wife Dorris of Powell; and grandson, Dillon Bradley of Clinton.

At Carolyn’s request there will be no services for her.

HUBERT DUNCAN JR.

Hubert Duncan Jr., 96, Clinton, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, at his home in Clinton.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 – 1946. Hubert was a PFC, in the Anti-Aircraft Unit and fought three major battles, Normandy, France, and Rhineland. His family had a business, Duncan Coal Company, that he helped own and operate. He loved his family and was very proud of his children and grandchildren and enjoyed sharing stories with them about growing up in Clinton. Hubert was an avid hunter and fisherman and helped build the Alcoa Plant. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Clinton.

Hubert was preceded in death by: Parents, Hubert and Eva Duncan; brothers, Chalmer Duncan and Carl Lester Duncan; and sister, Louise Hankins.

Hubert is survived by: Wife of 62 years, Lorene Johnson Duncan of Clinton; children, Jeanne K. Duncan and fiancé Mike Houston of Maryville, Lora Nickell and husband Mark of Smyrna, and Hubert Duncan III of Clinton; six grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and special daughter-in-law, Brenda Duncan of Clinton.

The family would like to thank Avalon Hospice for the great care they had given Hubert during his illness. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital.

Hubert’s family received friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, in the chapel of Jones Mortuary with his funeral service following at 7 p.m. with Mark Nickell and Keith Nickell officiating.

Hubert’s interment was at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, at Farmer’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Clinton with full military honors.
