Jackie Lee Burress, 65, Ten Mile, passed away suddenly at The University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Oct. 24, 2022.
Jackie proudly enlisted in the United States Navy following high school. He was honored to serve aboard the U.S.S. Dwight D. Eisenhower, being one of the original crew to sail on the newly commissioned ship. After completion of his service, he returned to Clinton where he worked at Modine Manufacturing for many years. Later he joined Fritts Heating and Air for the rest of his work life before retiring. Jackie loved his family, gardening and being outdoors.
He was preceded in death by: Parents, Willie and Martha Burress; and several close family members and friends.
He leaves to mourn his passing: Daughter, Elizabeth Burress; son, Lee Burress of Clinton; girlfriend, Leslie Tackett of Ten Mile; grandchildren, Catilyn, McKalea, Jeremey, and Anthony of Clinton; brother, Steve Burress of Clinton; sisters, Betty (David) Mings, Otella (Carl) Seeber, all of Clinton; best friend, Billy Foster; and very special cousin, Glen (Tina) Burress of Knoxville.
A memorial service will be held later.
ROSE NARY MARTIN WEAVER

Rose Mary Martin Weaver, 74, Lenoir City, went home to be with her Heavenly Father at Fort Loudon Medical Center Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022.
Rosemary was a graduate of Lake City High School and attended Lincoln Memorial University. She was a Member of Moran Baptist Church where she played the piano and was a Sunday school teacher. She loved attending and socializing at church and reading her Bible.
She was an educational assistant for 41 years at Lake City Elementary School. Rosemary will be remembered as Christian woman who loved her family and grandkids but most of all Jesus.
She was preceded in death by: Parents, Paul and Ruby Martin; husband, Bill Weaver.
She is survived by: Daughter, Charllet and husband Mitch Owens; sister, Nancy and husband Joe Harper; granddaughter, Michelle and husband Gary Dees; two great-grandchildren, Braxton and Naomi Dees; nephew, Martin Hennessee; niece, Mary and husband Brian Hatmaker; great-nephews, Stone and Luke Hatmaker; cousins, Dean Knight, Jane Beth Dimsey, Carolyn Blevins, and Ray DeArmond.
The Family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton.

VERNA PARTIN DAY

Verna Partin Day, 90, Andersonville, went home to be with her heavenly father at her residence Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022.
Verna was a licensed minister of Gospel Light Church of God and worked in many churches since she gave her heart to the Lord on Liberty Street in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1955. She was a Sunday school teacher and youth leader for many years. She had a nursing home ministry, jail ministry, did missionary work in Kenya and Jamaica, and had a radio broadcast with WGLH in LaFollette on Saturdays. Throughout her life she loved cooking, gardening, sewing, family gatherings, reading her Bible, and writing scripture. Verna will be remembered as a Christian woman who loved her family but most of all Jesus.
She was preceded in death by: Husband, Arthur Day Sr.; son, John Samuel Day; parents, John Jackson and Catherine Green Partin; brothers, Harold Partin, Bill Partin, and Jack Partin; sisters, Irene Partin and Betty Graves.

STEV 'STEVE' REESE BREEDEN

Steven “Steve” Reese Breeden, Claxton, passed away with his family by his side Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022, at the age of 65.
He was born to James Franklin Breeden Jr. and Doris Ann Brock Breeden Feb. 17, 1957.
Steve was a graduate of Clinton High School class of 1975. He then went on to work as an electrician at Performance Pipe in Knoxville for 45 years. In the 1990s, he served as the president of the Claxton Youth Organization and spent much of his time coaching football and basketball. As the years went on, he enjoyed spending his time with friends and family. Steve was also an avid deer and turkey hunter and enjoyed hunting season as much as possible.
He is survived by: Loving wife, Kathy Smith Breeden, of 45 years; two children, Steven Breeden (Brandy) and Vanessa Breeden Fox (Stevie); six grandchildren, Peyton, Reese, Kate, Sydney, Levi, and Easton; sister, Jama Breeden Hill (David); brother, Mike Breeden (Robyn); and stepmother, Vivian Dagley.
He is also survived by many in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Steve’s cousin, Robert Breeden, and the administration and staff at Life Care Center of Blount County for their care, attention, and love expressed during Steve’s final days.

Edith Lorene Cooper, 95, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., passed away Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022.
Edith was born June 17, 1927, in Belfry, Ky., to Martha and Roy Edmonds. Her family moved to the Ball Camp area in 1931 and subsequently to the Clinton area. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1945 and was employed by Magnet Mills where she met her spouse. They were married in 1952 and moved to Heiskell. They subsequently moved to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., in 1969.
She was preceded in death by: Husband, Calvin Coolidge Cooper; and son, Russell Terrence Cooper.
She is survived by her: Son, Jeffrey Calvin Cooper and wife Jane Cooper of Abilene, Texas; daughter, Jenny Ann Peters and husband Mark Peters of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Myrna Cooper of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, followed by burial at Zion Cemetery in Claxton.

John Bailey, 80, Knoxville, passed away Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at the Select Specialty Hospital.
He was born in Oliver Springs to Alfred and Jessie Williamson Bailey. John was a long-time member of the Bethel Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and treasurer for many years. He was a kind, generous, soft spoken and a servant of the Lord. John was an avid University of Tennessee football fan and held season tickets for many years. He was also a member of NRA and loved Southern Gospel music.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by: Mother-in-law, Dell Horton; sister-in-law, Linda Bailey; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Survived by: Loving wife of nearly 50 years, Ruth Ann Bailey; devoted brother, Gary Bailey; special cousins, Rick Gibbs of St. Jude, Fla., and Wayne and Marian Gibbs of Dade City, Fla.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022, with the funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. with Dr. Darrell Taylor officiating.
John’s interment will be held at Anderson Memorial Garden at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022.

Ronald L. Hooks, 76, went to be with the Lord Oct. 1, 2022, at his home.
He was born Sept. 20, 1946.
Ronnie was a member of Second Baptist Church of Clinton. He retired from the Department of Energy in Oak Ridge.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his father and mother, Elmer L. and Nancy Hooks.
He is survived by: Wife, Martha Hooks; son, Bryan Hooks (Kimberly); grandchildren, Reese and Raegan Hooks; brother, Donnie Hooks (Dora); sisters, Patsy McConkey, Judy McKenney, Helen Fowler.
Ronnie had a wonderful caregiver, Pat White, who gave him loving care.

Daniel Joseph Belcher, 49, Clinton, was unexpectedly called to his heavenly home Sept. 29, 2022.
He was born July 21, 1973, to Clarence William (Bill) and Patricia Belcher in Sterling Heights, Mich. He leaves behind his loving wife of 22 years, his two daughters who he adored, and his beloved service dog.
Daniel never met a stranger and was beloved by everyone he met. He had the biggest heart and would do almost anything to help someone in need. He was a proud disabled veteran of the United States Air Force. Although he struggled every day with pain from injuries during his military service time, he had an amazing spirit and was determined to live each day to the fullest and give his family the best life possible. He was so grateful to be a Smoky Mountain Service Dog recipient, who paired him with his amazing service dog and also became part of his extended family. He was a member of Black Oak Baptist Church and came to think of everyone there as his family. His proudest accomplishments were his two daughters, who he adored and was extremely proud of. He loved his family more than anything in this world and would do anything for them.
He was preceded in death by: Grandmothers, Delorce McKinney and Laune Stiltner; sister, Amanda Gross; brother, David and father, Bill.
He is survived by: Loving wife, Michelle; daughters, Olivia and Ambre; granddaughters, Amirah and Arwynn; service dog, Stryker; father and mother-in-law, Audry and Carolyn Goins; mother, Patricia; special friends, Ralph Scott and Brian Carlton.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2022, at Black Oak Baptist Church.
His funeral service will immediately follow at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Matthew Thompson officiating.
Daniel’s graveside will be held at noon Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022, at Black Oak Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors at graveside.
