PAT (DISNEY) LONG

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Pat Long, 76, Lake City.
Pat was born Oct. 19, 1946, to parents Ted Disney and Lula Mae Heatherly.
Pat was preceded in death by: Siblings, Jackie Disney (Infant), Georgia Mae (Disney) Vowell, Benny Joe Disney, Con Ray Disney, William “Bill” Harvey Disney, Edna Grace (Disney) Wallace, and Barbara Jean (Disney) Mozingo.
She is survived by: Husband, the Rev. Fred “Buddy” Long Jr.; children, Suzanne Long-Holstein (Robert), Charles Long (Lori), and Curtis Long; grandchildren, Tyler Long and Kierstan Davis (Matt); great-grandchildren, Dawson and Parklynn Davis; and sister, Louise Phillips of Jacksboro; including a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pat was a deeply devoted Christian woman of the Baptist faith, a beloved wife and loving mother, as well as a cherished grandmother and adored great-grandmother. She peacefully entered her eternal rest at home, surrounded by her family, Sept.18, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and nurturing. Pat’s unwavering devotion to her church families, and to the Lord, was a constant guiding force in her life. Her spirit of kindness and compassion were a comfort to all who knew her.
As a long-time hairdresser, Pat’s gentle and caring demeanor extended far beyond the “beauty shop,” touching the lives of her family, friends, customers, and community. Pat was not only a talented hairdresser but also a master of southern cooking. Her kitchen was a place of love and warmth, where she created mouthwatering dishes that brought joy to anyone lucky enough to eat her food. Her love for cooking was matched only by her green thumb, which was always her happy place as she tended to her beloved flowers and vegetable garden.
Finally, her passion for genealogy, which she shared with her brother Benny Joe, connected generations and preserved their family’s heritage. Above all, Pat cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her love and wisdom were a guiding light for her children and a source of endless joy for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The memories of her laughter, her warm hugs, and her unconditional love will continue to comfort and strengthen her family for years to come. Her love knew no bounds, and her family was the center of her world. Her legacy of faith, love, and family values will guide and inspire her descendants for generations to come.
As we say our earthly goodbyes to Pat, we take comfort in knowing that she is now in the loving embrace of her Creator and reunited with loved ones who have gone before her.
May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory inspire us all.
Visitation of family and friends was held from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023, at Hatmaker Funeral Home, 503 S. Main Street, Lake City, Tenn.

Family and friends met at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023, at Hatmaker Funeral Home to go in procession to Island Ford Baptist Church Cemetery for a 2 p.m. graveside service.

AARON PAUL GATES
September 18, 2023
Aaron Paul Gates, 34 Clinton, passed away suddenly Monday, Sept. 18, 2023 in Knoxville.
He loved spending time with his family and had a great love for his children, nieces and nephews. He had great enjoyment in making people laugh. Aaron loved the outdoors, the mountains, hiking and skateboarding, fishing, and riding four wheelers.
Aaron loved the mother (Celeste) of his children.
Aaron was preceded in death by: Father, Brian Gates; grandparents, Paul and Gail Gates and Kathy Scheibel.
He is survived by: Mother, Kim Halloun and husband Kamil of Clinton; grandfather, Jim Kirby; son, Gray Gates; daughters, Ariana Gates and Briana (Bri) Gates; sisters, Aleisha Gates and significant other Kenny Chambers of Knoxville, Ashley Hakes and husband Ricky of Jacksboro, Kaycee Treacy and husband Luke of Georgia, and Ciara Kirby of Clinton; uncle, Kenny Kirby of Clinton; aunt, Nicki Steelman and husband Brandon of Oak Ridge.
He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service for Aaron will be announced at a later date.

LOIS M. VOWELL

Lois M. Vowell, 91, Lake City, Tennessee passed away Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, at Summit View Nursing Home.
Lois was a lifetime member and the oldest member of Laurel Branch Baptist Church of Briceville, where she was a regular member of the church choir. Lois loved her flowers and loved to sit on her back porch watching the birds and deer in her yard.
Lois was preceded in death by: Husband, George M. Vowell; parents, Tommy and Della Patterson; sisters, Bertha Tayler and Claude, Beatrice Phillips and the Rev. Edwin Phillips; brothers, Charles K. Patterson, James C. Patterson and Wanda, and Tommy Lee Patterson.
She is survived by: Brother, Cavin J. Patterson and Henrietta; two foster sons, Chris Rutherford and Micheal Ray Phillips and several of their children; and several nieces and nephews, including Sue Hollis as her special caregiver.
Visitation was from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023, at Laurel Branch Baptist Church in Briceville with the funeral service following visitation at 7 p.m.
The graveside service was at Norris Memorial Garden at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023.

JOE NEAL IRWIN

Joe Neal Irwin died Sept. 10, 2023.
He was 84 years old.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan Irwin.
Joe is also survived by: Three sons, Richard (Chrysti) Irwin, Christopher Irwin, and Andrew Irwin; and two grandchildren, Daniel Irwin and Deborah Irwin.
Joe was born in Somerset, Ky., and raised in Waynesboro, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by: Parents, Lucille and Leighton Irwin; sister, Jacque Sue Freeze; and brothers, Bobby Irwin, Jimmy Irwin, and Billy Irwin (who died in infancy).
Joe is survived by his younger brother, Guy Irwin.
Joe was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was retired from the Farm Credit Administration as a bank examiner, and previously had a long career in banking, eventually serving as president of two banks. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee (where he met Joan) and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking. Joe loved golf, woodworking, landscaping in his yard, and camping in the mountains. He was a lifelong fan of the Tennessee Vols. He not only organized many family reunions through the years, he insisted that they be filled with laughter and fun, including talent contests and other fun activities. He travelled far and wide to support his sons in their various endeavors, including performances, weddings, graduations, and all-important events. He also never missed an opportunity to dance the jitterbug with Joan.
A celebration of Joe Irwin’s life was at held at the First United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville, Ga., Saturday Sept. 16, 2023, and is available to watch online.
Interment occurred at the Chilhowhee Cemetery in Seymour.
MICHAEL LYNN SHRADER
August 26, 2023
Michael Lynn Shrader, 72, Clinton, passed away suddenly, early Saturday morning, Aug. 26, 2023, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.
Michael was the owner and operator of Real Dry Cleaners in Clinton. The business was started by his parents in the mid-1960s.
Michael was preceded in death by: Parents, Glenn “Shorty” and Jewell Shrader; sister, Patsy Shrader; brother, David L. Shrader; and great-nephew, Isaac Shrader.
He is survived by: Daughter, Kristin Shrader of Los Angeles; and very special friend, Sherry Bryant of Clinton.
He is also survived by: Brothers, Ronald Shrader and wife Nel of Clinton, and Terry Shrader and wife Susan of Oak Ridge; niece, Tippi Moore and husband Ricky; and nephew, Todd Shrader; and great-nephew, Britt Lamson.
Michael is also survived by a crowd of friends in Anderson County and beyond including his close neighbors, Bob and Emily Williams.
Michael was a charter member of the Clinton Rotary Club where he was the treasurer from 1979 until 2023. He loved volunteering with the Remote Area Medical Clinic, Rotary events such as the Father-Daughter Dance, and the holiday bell ringing for the Salvation Army. As a child, Michael joined the First Baptist Church of Clinton.
Michael enjoyed watching news shows, sports of all kinds, and old movies. He appreciated great music and dancing, attending social functions, and being with friends. He always wanted people around him to have a good time. He and Sherry recently visited his daughter in Los Angeles where they toured the Warner Brothers Studios and other Hollywood sites.
Family and friends will receive friends from 1 – 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, 2023, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home with a celebration of life service to follow.
Michael’s graveside will be private and held at Sunset Cemetery.

REGINA KATHRYN COX
August 23, 2023
Regina Kathryn Cox was born March 21, 1929, in Chattanooga and died peacefully at her home in South Clinton Aug. 23, 2023.
She was preceded in death by: Husband of 66 years, the Rev. Paul Cox; parents, John and Grace Duncum; son, Gregory; grandson, Dewayne Webster; and sisters, Faye King, Juanita Ferraro, and Ann Heffernan.
She is survived by: Sons, Tony (Joy), and Lynn (Linda); daughter-in-law, Sabrena; grandchildren, the Rev. John (Sunny), Stephen (Amy), Kevin (Robin), Dennis (Melissa), Rebekah, Logan (Maddi), and Anthony; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Sue Lewis; and several nieces and nephews.
Pastor Cox and Kathryn were married June 9, 1950, at Sinking Springs Methodist Church.
For more than 40 years Kathryn was a beloved pastor's wife in the two churches they served, Mascot Wesleyan Methodist Church and Clinton Christ Fellowship. During retirement years, with Kathryn by his side Pastor Cox remained active in ministry, preaching in several states and working as an interim pastor at Pearisburg Christ Fellowship in Pearisburg, Va.
Kathryn's wit and wisdom kept us laughing and lined up. Her quilts kept us warm. Her stack cakes were the centerpieces of Christmas dinner, and a Saturday morning with "cat head" biscuits and pear honey preserves was the best meal of the week. But it was her steadfast faith and love for God's Word that is now our comfort and peace.
Her memory will be eternally in our hearts.
The family will have a graveside service at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28, 2023, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the charity or church of their choice.

RONALD (RON) AUBREY ROSKELLY II

Ronald (Ron) Aubrey Roskelly II, Clinton, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023.
He was 68.
Ron was preceded in death by: Beloved wife, Cinda Roskelly; mother, Ruby Roskelly; and brother, Ricky Roskelly; as well as many other family members.
He is survived by: Father, Ronald Audrey Roskelly Sr.; sisters, Regina Darby, Redonna Dabbs, and Diana Roskelly; children, Faith Bullock (Andrew), Kristal Tate (Charles), and Ronald Roskelly III (Beth); and grandchildren, Alexander Tate, Aaron Bullock, and Maggie Tate; as well as many other family members.
Ron was born in Clovis, N.M, to Ronald and Ruby Roskelly. He grew up in Madison, Ohio. He got his GED then joined the US Air Force for six years. He spent much of his time in the Air Force deployed in England. When he came back to the U.S. he was stationed in Great Falls, Mont., where he met the love of his life, Cinda. Ron and Cinda then moved to East Tennessee where they raised three kids. Ron worked as a machinist for much of his life. He eventually retired from Rexnord in Clinton. Ron enjoyed many hobbies including motorcycles, photography, renaissance festivals, and reading. He was a dog lover who had many dogs in his life. Ron also enjoyed spending time with family.
Ron will be greatly missed by family and friends.
At Ron’s request, there will be no services.

MILDRED D. (BAYLESS) FARMER

Mildred D. (Bayless) Farmer, 87, Beavercreek, Ohio, passed away Monday, Aug. 21, 2023, peacefully at her home.
She was born Aug. 31, 1935, in Lake City to Joseph Hubert and Mildred Lucille (Griffith) Bayless.
Her beloved husband of 65 years, Lincoln Farmer, preceded her in death in 2019 and sister Joyce (Bayless) Neitzel in 2015.
Mildred was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loyal friend who will be greatly missed. She was a positive inspiration and light to all who knew her. Mildred's faith and love for Jesus was evident in her daily life. She was a 1954 graduate of Stivers High School and was retired from Wright State University in 1989 where she worked as a secretary in the College of Liberal Arts. Mildred always read books, and enjoyed learning history and classics, working puzzles, flower gardening, cooking, baking and spending time with family. She was a member of Patterson Park Church in Beavercreek.
Mildred leaves to cherish her memory: Daughters, Linda (Stephen) Hollen, Donna (Timothy) Schultz; loyal "baby" dog, Brooke; grandchildren, Mark (Samantha) Murphy, Morgan Murphy, Courtney Schultz and Caroline Schultz, Kelly Hollen (Mark Winer); and five great grandchildren.

Mildred's family will receive friends at Tobias Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia and Grange Hall Roads, starting at 11:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m.
Mildred will be laid to rest at Valley View Memorial Gardens in Xenia, Ohio, following the service.
