KEITH WOZNEK

Keith Woznek died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, at his home in Clinton after battling cancer.

He is now in the presence of his Savior, Jesus. Born Jan. 9, 1950, in Syracuse, N.Y., to Harriet (Murray) Woznek and Peter Woznek, Keith lived a life of distinction, devotion to family, and service to Jesus. In the later years of his life, Keith was a member of Second Baptist Church in Clinton.

The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Jones Mortuary from 6 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, with a funeral service following. The Rev. Tyler Woznek will be officiating.

Keith’s graveside service will be at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023, with full military honors being performed by the Jellico and Campbell County Honor Guard.

Keith grew up in scouting, earning his Eagle Scout in 1965. Graduating from East Syracuse Minoa in 1968, he then attended West Point Military Academy, graduating in 1972. He attained the rank of captain and was a decorated soldier, serving in the 2nd Armored Division.

As a family man, Keith would take trips with his wife, Elaine. They often vacationed at Word of Life to listen to preaching from all over the country. Keith loved being a dad until the title of “Papa” was granted to him. “The purpose of having kids is having grandkids,” he would say with pride. He deeply loved all of his grandkids.

Service to Jesus was Keith’s greatest hallmark. He taught through the entire Bible as a Sunday school teacher, lead Bible studies at work, and in retirement focused on sharing about Jesus. His greatest ministry was as “Chief Ranger” in Christian Service Brigade at North Syracuse Baptist Church. There he led many boys to become men and followers of Jesus. A verse he often quoted was Roman’s 10:9, “If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your Heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved!”

Keith was preceded in death by: Parents, Peter and Harriet Woznek; and brother, Kevin Woznek.

He is survived by: Wife, Elaine Woznek; sister, Barbra Parker; sons, Beau Flannery and Tyler Woznek; daughters, Wendy O’Neill, Laurie Willits, and Holly Moran; cherished grandchildren, Christian, Eli and Grace Moran, and Jadon and Gavin Woznek.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me in that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved His appearing.”

CONNIE LOUISE NOLAN

Connie Louise Nolan, born Aug. 9, 1946, to Arizona McGhee Thomas, gained her heavenly angel wings Dec. 24, 2022.

Connie's greatest treasures were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was like no other and her role as "Mom-Mom" was one of her greatest. Her warm heart and beautiful smile would light up any room. She treasured her many trips to the ocean with her sister, and the stories that they can tell show how much love they shared between them.

Connie was also a treasure hunter. She and her sister embarked on many trips and adventures in search of art glass such as Fenton and Viking Art Glass. Her collection, like her, is beautiful and it was something that she loved to be able to do and share with her precious sister. If you were lucky enough to know her and care for her, you would know that you had the love of one of the most spectacular people in the world. Her quick wit, her admirable love for all things, and the joy that she brought to so many will be missed. Her legacy on earth will never be forgotten and will live on through each of those who loved her.

FOSTER CHARLES EMCH 'TYKE'

Always known as “Tyke,” Foster Charles Emch, 80, passed on from this life to the next at 4:40 p.m. Dec. 23, 2022, with his loving wife of 33 years, Tammy Holt Emch, at his side.

He was a West Virginia man who found true love in a Tennessee girl; a diehard fan of the West Virginia Mountaineers, the Tennessee Volunteers, and the Atlanta Braves; a snazzy dresser with crazy t-shirts and hats galore; a big man with an even bigger heart.

Tyke was a 1960 graduate of Magnolia High School in New Martinsville, W. Va., where he was active in FFA and football, and studied business at Kent State University in Akron, Ohio. He served as Secretary of Local Chapter of the United Steelworkers of America Union in Youngstown, Ohio, and later was a member of Laborers’ Union Local 438 in Atlanta, Ga., where he retired from work as a chemical process operator for Crown Cork & Seal in 1994.

Tyke was a Christian who attended the Evangelistic Center of Clinton and was best known locally as a highly decorated volunteer at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, longtime manager and DJ of Tambo’s Karaoke, and co-owner of Tykester’s Antiques, Jams, and Jellies in Clinton. He always had fun, and he made sure everyone around him did too.

Tyke was preceded in death by: Father, Foster C. Emch; mother, Thelma Meadus Swann Emch; and daughter, Karen Emch Luoma.

He is survived by: That Tennessee girl, Tammy, and her three special sisters, all of whom babied him to no end; two brothers-in-law, one whom was his buddy; his little brother, ”Muggs” and family; daughter, Leshia Ann Emch, who idolized him, and her family; two sons, Foster Charles Emch II, of Warren, Ohio, and Robert Lee Emch of Culpeper, Va., and their families; two nephews and their families in Charleston, W. Va.; several nieces and nephews in Clinton and Nashville; three granddaughters and four great-grandchildren; two special great-nieces and a special great-nephew; and a great many bowling and music friends.

Tyke loved fried catfish, eggs, chicken with mashed potatoes, gravy, and noodles, and black raspberry cobbler. He never met a stranger, never made an enemy, and never missed a chance to make a joke. He was fun-loving and funny, and everyone loved him.

We will greatly miss him as he, like his favorite cowboy hero Roy Rogers, rides off into the sunset.

The family will receive friends at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home from 2 – 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, with the funeral service to follow in the Chapel with pastor Judy Delatte officiating.

Interment will be held at Overton Cemetery following the funeral service.
