Vernice Chandler, 87, Heiskell, went to be with the Lord May 10, 2023, at her residence surrounded by family.
She was born Jan. 4, 1936, in South Charleston, W. Va., to Earl Haynes and Lillian Irene Thaxton Haynes. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by: Parents; husband, Howard “Hub” Chandler of 56 years; son, Damon Chandler; sisters, Arbutus “Bootie” Allen, Ida Gessel, Ethel Mae Bell; and brother, Rodger Haynes.
She is survived by: Siblings, Mitchell (Vicky) Thaxton of Mims, Fla. Dreama Stair of Clinton, Will (Pattie) Chandler of Mims, Fla., Chris (Sheila) Chandler of Heiskell, Ron (Linda) Chandler of Heiskell, Earl (Stacy) Chandler of Heiskell, Bronson Chandler of Heiskell. and brothers Gerald and Darrell Haynes both of Sissonville, W. Va.
She leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Stacy Chandler for the loving care of our mother for the last few years.
A private graveside service was held at the Chandler family cemetery.

Betty Jane (Lane) Fowler passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2023, age 88.
Born May 6, 1935, to Janes C. Lane Sr. and Martha Alice Lovell Lane. The family moved from Bybee, Cocke County, to South Clinton in 1939. Betty, a Christian, was presently a member of South Clinton Baptist Church where she attended as a child and spent her youth. She was also a previous member of Zion Baptist Church for many years. She graduated from Clinton High School (Class of ‘53), Knoxville Business College, and X-Ray Technology School. She married Charles Edward Fowler Jr., also of South Clinton, May 28, 1953. After raising their three children she returned to work at the 1982 World’s Fair and then as an x-ray technician until her retirement in 1995. She and her husband, Charles, traveled extensively during their retirement years. She enjoyed camping, hiking, her beloved flower gardens and playing the dulcimer with the group ‘The Grace Noters’.
Those preceding her death are her: Parents, ‘Jim’ and ‘Alice’ Lane; grandson, Mark Wolfenbarger; in-laws, Charles Edward Fowler Sr. and wife Kathleen Rhyne Fowler, Claude Steadman and Irene Fowler Steadman, Paul and Ruth Currior Fowler, Bruce Gordon Fowler.
Survivors are: Husband, Charles Edward Fowler Jr., spouse of 70 years as of May 28, 2023; children, Janie Fowler Wolfenbarger (Marvin), Douglas Fowler (Cathryn Bay-Fowler), and Andrea Fowler O’Neal (Keith); grandchildren, Aaron Wolfenbarger, Nathan Wolfenbarger (Kristen), Lauren Bay Meyer, Hannah Bay Musick, Caitlin Bay Puhl, Brendan O’Neal, Teryn O’Neal, and Zaira O’Neal; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Eve Wolfenbarger, Paul and Asher Wolfenbarger, Jackson, Benjamin and Elliot Meyer, and Max and Bodi Musick; brother, James Clyde Lane Jr. (Edith) and nieces, Cindy, Kyna, and Nicole ‘Nikki’; sister, Marylee Lane Price (Ray) and children David, Danielle, and Candice Jay “Jai J.”; dearest friend and sister-in-law, Helen Hooks Fowler (Bruce) and children Holly, Heather, and Nathan; nephew and nieces, Dennis Fowler, Debbie (Fowler) Crocker, Shirley Steadman Elder, and Margaret Steadman Tackett.
There will be a graveside service at Grandview Memorial Garden at 11 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2023, with the Rev. Roger Pugh officiating.

Christopher Steven Holt tragically lost his life May 6, 2023.
Born Dec. 23, 1995, in Knoxville, Christopher (Chris) was the youngest child of Lynn and Christy Holt of Claxton.
Chris attended Claxton Elementary School and Clinton Middle School and graduated from Clinton High School in 2014.
Chris had been an electrician since 2016 and had worked with several companies over the years. Being an electrician came naturally for him and he was often complimented for his impressive skills. At the time of his death, Chris was working with Sun Electric.
He enjoyed being outdoors with a special interest in off-roading and swimming. He loved restoring cars and trucks, building and installing car audio systems and enjoyed doing this with his friends and family. He was committed to his family and supporting them through good and bad times. He put his family first in his life and holidays were always very important to Chris. He made it a priority to spend time with his family.
Chris was preceded in death by: Older brother, Justin Holt; maternal grandparents, Ruth Byrge (Gram) and Charles Byrge; and paternal grandparents, Patsy Mabe Holt and Monroe Holt.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by: Sister and brother-in-law, Jessica and Andrew Lounsberry; nieces and nephews, Weston, Owen, Marigold, Bella, Zoewi and Kaylee; sister-in-law, Ciara Holt; great-aunts, Betty Paskell Lee and Shirley Mabe Farmer; aunts, Melanie Coker, Robin Holt, Tammy Emch, Pam Davis, and Debbie Puckett; cousins, Troy, Jacob, Katelyn, Mason, Crystal, Austin, Nicole; and many, many friends and extended family members.
The family will receive friends at Holley Gamble Funeral Home, 621 S Charles G. Seivers Boulevard in Clinton, Tennessee from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2023, with funeral to immediately follow and officiated by Adam Barnhart.

Patricia Eyvonne Sturdivant, 78, Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at her home following a period of declining health.
The daughter of the late Theodore and Mildred Colbertson Sturdivant, she was born in Marshville, N.C., Jan. 6, 1945, and was a retired Certified Nursing Assistant, and a devoted member of the First Apostolic Church of Knoxville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: Husband, James Henry Rorie; sister, Carolyn Smith; brothers, Steve and Doug Sturdivant.
Patricia is survived by: Sons, Martianez Rorie and wife Robbee of Nashville, and Shelly Rorie of Memphis; daughter Philippia Hardin and husband Alvin of Powell; brother, Timothy Sturdivant of North Carolina; sister, Waverly Bush and husband Searcey of Tallahassee, Fla.; grandchildren, Kathryn Kataria and husband Karan, Malakhi Rorie; great-grandchild, Kiaan Kataria; and other relatives and friends.
The Sturdivant family will visit with friends from 5 p.m. until time of the Ccelebration of life service at 7 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2023, at the First Apostolic Church in Knoxville, with Pastor Mark McCool and Bishop Billy McCool officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Lynch-Bethel Cemetery.

James Franklin Stephens, 79, Clinton, gained his angel wings May 2, 2023, with his wife, Barbara, and daughter, Debbie, holding his hands.
He was born June 7, 1943, in Lake City to Clifton and Beatrice Stephens. Anyone who knew Jim knew he had a big personality and loved to eat, read his Bible, fish, talk politics, and be with his family. He was a loving husband, father and the best papaw anyone could wish for. His grandchildren, Blake and Sarah Hudak, were his entire world.
Jim retired from the K-25 Gaseous Diffusion Plant after 30 years back in 2001. He was a wonderful carpenter and spent his retirement using his skills on mission trips, helping others and travelling with his wife Barbara. Jim grew up in a large family as one of seven. He was quite the basketball player and still holds the record at Lake City High school for most points ever scored and most rebounds in a game. Jim graduated Lake City High School and went on to play basketball at Cumberland University in Kentucky. Jim was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Clinton, Alpha Chapter 376 and a past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Andersonville, Dutch Valley 369. Jim was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church in Lake City.
Jim was preceded in death by: First wife, Hazel Lay Stephens; parents, Clifton and Beatrice Stephens; brothers, Charles Stephens and Lester Stephens; and step-sons, Darryl Disney, Ronnie Disney and John Disney.
Jim is survived by: Loving wife, Barbara Stephens; daughter, Debbie Hudak and husband Chris of Clinton; daughters-in-law, Amy Blevins of Colorado, Sharon Dameron of Powell, and Christy Disney of Lake City.
He leaves behind his precious grandchildren: Blake Hudak of Cookeville, Sarah Hudak of Clinton, Rachel Bittinger and husband Brad of Clinton, Jamie Ford and husband Ben of Grandview, Kendra Disney of Powell, Samantha, Mary and Sarah Disney of New York; great-grandchildren, Blane Bittinger and Nora Campos.
He is also survived by: Brother, Kenneth Stephens and wife Kay of Florida; sisters, Thelma Berryhill of Clinton, Dorothy Arnold of Maryville, and Carolyn Strizak of Clinton; special niece, Linda Bass of Kokomo, Ind.; special nephew Terry Meeler, of Clinton.
Also left behind to mourn his passing is his wonderful nurse and adopted daughter, Abigail Murphy of Andersonville, who took such wonderful care of him and Barbara for many years; and his best friends, Everette and Gail Byrge of Lake City.
The family would like to say a special thank you to his wonderful family doctor and friend, Dr. Robert Alley for all of his care over the years. Special thank you to Dr. Kelly, Dr. Newman and Dr. Maroun and the staff at Parkwest Hospital for all of their care and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Visitation was from 2 – 4 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Hatmaker Funeral home Chapel in Lake City.

KENNETH OWEN SEIBER

On May 1, 2023, Kenneth Owen Seiber left this earth and began celebrating with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
He was 99.
Kenneth was a veteran of World War II where he served as a Tec-4 in the infantry. He served in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He received the carbine rifle sharpshooter badge, American Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon with five Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Medal.
Kenneth worked for Union Carbide Corporation as a pipe fitter at the Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant, and the Oak Ridge National Lab for 33 years. He retired from the Oak Ridge National Lab in 1985.
Kenneth will be forever remembered by his friends and family as an exceptional man, husband, and father. Kenneth was a dedicated and loving husband to his wife Wanda of 72 years, who preceded him in death in 2020.
Kenneth is survived by: Son Larry; daughters, Karen Holstine, Tammy Sharp (Derek), and Vicki Seiber; nine grandchildren, Jordan Fraley, Cody Holstine, Connor Osborne, Cheyenne Barber, Thomas Sharp (Kerstin), Rebecca Harmon (Alec), Sara Humphrey (Jeremey), Bre Scott (Brad), Blake Bingham; and nine great-grandchildren.
Kenneth was a member of Clinch River Baptist Church in Lake City.
Kenneth loved his family and enjoyed anything that involved kids, grandkids, or great-grandkids. Kenneth enjoyed hunting, fishing, and flying RC model airplanes. He was a very patient and kind man who helped any neighborhood kid that needed their bicycle worked on. Kenneth was an exceptional man that was loved by everyone. The home health nurses fell in love with him after just one visit.
He will be greatly missed.
Graveside service and burial will be in Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton at 1 p.m. May 3, 2023.

NANCY LEE MARLOW

Nancy Lee Marlow, 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior May 1, 2023, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga.
She was born June 29, 1939, in Hyndman, Penn., to Edward and Emma Evans. Nancy went where the Lord, her husband, family and friends needed her. She raised her family in Ohio and after retirement, moved to Clinton. After the passing of her husband, Harvey “Jay” Marlow, and her Walmart retirement she then moved to McDonough, Ga., and later to Ludowici, Ga., to be closer to her son, John, before moving to Blairsville, Ga., and in with her other son, Harvey, in 2020 where she became a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Blairsville.
She was a pastor’s wife and very active in the churches she attended where she touched many lives through music, teaching, and missions. She was a provider, working as a press operator for 15 years, a Walmart employee for another eight years. She was a loving mother to five children and avid craftswoman crocheting blankets, hats, and prayer shawls for the sick and homeless. She was also a cancer survivor.
Nancy was preceded in death by: Parents, Emma Mae and Edward Millard Evans; husband, Harvey J. Marlow; daughters, Patricia Clair Gallagher, Susan Ann Marlow; and son-in-law, Larry Gallagher.
She is survived by: Beloved sister, Julia (Charles) Saeler; daughter, Wanda (Lonnie) Swango; sons, Harvey (Samantha) Marlow and John (Kerri) Marlow; grandchildren, Andrew Swango, Emma Hillier, Jessica Johns, Logan Taylor, Kaisha Marlow, Chelsea Meeker, and Kiran Marlow; and an additional eight great-grandchildren.
While Nancy will be greatly missed, we can all celebrate her life knowing that when she passed from this life, she heard the words, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant when she entered heavens gates.”

Jenny Lynn Hess, 72, Clinton passed away Friday, April 28, 2023.
She was born April 30, 1950, in Xenia, Ohio, to Ralph and Helen Hess. Jenny was the office manager at the Anderson County CO-OP for 32 years. Throughout her life, Jenny loved to go horseback riding and painting.
Jenny will be remembered as a loving mother, friend, and co-worker.
She is survived by: Son, William Jason “J.B.” Brown; brother, Jerry Hess and wife Gertrude; nephew, Tom Hess and wife Jennifer and their children, Tayton Hess, Callista Hess, and Colter Hess; niece, Mandy Deane and husband Brett and their children, Olivia Deane, Kate Deane, Lauren Mott and husband Jonathan and their son, Levi, and daughter, Savannah; life-long friends, Phyllis and Gary Long and their son A.J.
