Maxine Ruth Lowe, 89, Clinton, travelled to her Heavenly home Tuesday, May 11, 2021.
Maxine will be remembered as a kind, gentle, and generous person. Her family describes her as a loyal and faithful woman. She was known for cooking for families and friends during times of grievances; she was always willing to help. Maxine was a lover of the Lord and of flowers. She was a housewife who raised seven children and also cleaned a local church for several years before her passing. She felt like that was a way for her to give back to her community, and most importantly, to serve the Lord. She will be deeply missed by her family.
She was preceded in death by: Parents, Frederick Giles and Alberta Steele; husband, Garrett Lowe; brothers, Jack, Frank, Wayne, Joseph, Doug, and Troy Giles; sisters, Betty Wilcox, Lucille Jones, and Patricia Parrott.
She is survived by: Son, Gary Lowe of Clinton; daughters, Annette Steakley of Clinton, Judy Brown (Randy) of Rutledge, Sheba Tipton (Bob) of Knoxville, Jan Ooten (Carl) of Clinton, Diane Parks (James) of Lake City, and Sonya Hatfield (Jody) of Jacksboro; brothers, Charles and Sam Giles; grandchildren, Kimberly, Michael, Tracy, Gary Lee, Chanel, Donnie, Michael, Victoria, Nickie, Justin, Brittnee, and Matthew; along with 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Receiving of friends was held in the Chapel of Jones Mortuary from 11 a.m. – noon Thursday, May 13, 2021, with a funeral service following.
The Rev. Jason Goins officiated.
Interment was held at Anderson Memorial Gardens shortly after the funeral service Thursday, May 13, 2021.

Lana Overton Russell, 76, Clinton, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Lana was born Jan. 6, 1945, in Anderson County to the late Paul and Ella Overton. Lana enjoyed her years of retirement and enjoyed spending time at Mother’s Day Out at Second Baptist Church, crocheting, sewing, quilting, painting, but most of all spending time and finding new adventures with her family.
She is survived by: Husband, Odell Russell; daughters, Mechelle Ramsey and husband Mike of Oak Ridge, Christy Cunningham and husband Lance of Knoxville, Stephanie Fagan of Clinton, and Brandi Irwin and husband Scott of Clinton; grandchildren, Cori Williams and husband Jared, Taylor Ramsey, Christopher Sharpe, Gwyneth Fagan, Olivia Irwin and Savannah Irwin; great-grandchildren, Jonah Williams and Michael Williams; sister, Barbara Davis and husband Frank of Clinton; brother, Tim Overton of Clinton; several nieces and nephews
The family received friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2021, with a celebration of life service following.

Sonja “Jane” Dake, 76. Heiskell, passed away at her home May 13, 2021.
She was a member of Heiskell United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by: Husband Bill Dake; parents, Robert E Viles and Grace Viles Astalos.
She is survived by: Daughter, Lisa Dake,of Heiskell; son, William Dake and wife Melanie; and grandson, Brandon Dake of Lake City; brother, Gary Viles of Memphis
Friends and family gathered for a graveside service at 2 p.m. Sunday May 16, 2021, at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Heiskell.

SAM H. JONES

Sam H. Jones, 64, Clinton, passed away suddenly Thursday, May 13, 2021.
He was born in Rielasingen, Germany, Oct. 30, 1956. Sam was a graduate of Clinton Senior High and Jacksboro Vocational School.
He ran his own landscaping and tree removal business for more than 35 years where he developed friendships with many of his clients.
He attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Clinton.
Sam had a great love of history and enjoyed learning throughout his life. Watching sports on tv was one of his favorite things to do, especially tennis and golf. He was a person who loved nature's beauty and all animals especially his two cats.
Sam loved fishing and long rides scouting out the next best fishing spot.
Sam was preceded in death by: Parents, Clyde and Adelheid Jones; and brother, Michael.
He is survived by: Sisters, Susann Jones, Rose and Mike Hutson, Tammy Jones and Douglas Stewart, Judy Jones-Gillett; and brother, Steven Jones; aunts, Elizabeth Jones and Martha Hopper who he considered his other sisters.
Sam was a wonderful son and brother. He was our gentle but fierce protector always ready to lend A helping hand. We will cherish his memories until we have the blessing of seeing him again. Rest dear brother and be at peace.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 20, 2021, at Oliver Springs Cemetery with Mike Heath, Minister at Clinton Kingdom Hall, presiding.

Charles Kenneth Shoopman Jr., 51, passed away unexpectedly at his home Thursday May 13, 2021, in Clinton.
Charles loved fishing, he loved his son, his mother and his aunt Sandra. He did his best to enjoy every day of his life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Kenneth Shoopman Sr.
He is survived by: Mother, Brenda Shoopman of Clinton; son, Benji Shoopman of Clinton; special friends, whom he loved like sons, Dewayne Anderson and Derik Mills of Clinton; lifelong friend, Marlena Mallett of Oliver Springs; uncle, Wimp and Kathy of Clinton; special friend, whom he loved like an uncle, Clarence Tinker; along with several cousins.
Receiving of friends was held in the Chapel of Jones Mortuary from noon – 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2021, with a funeral service following.
Interment was held at Orchard View Baptist Church Cemetery, following the funeral service Tuesday, May 18, 2021.

Melinda Moffitt, 41, Harriman, passed away suddenly at her home May 12, 2021.
She was of the Baptist faith. Melinda liked going to flea markets. She loved being an Aunt and Grandmaw.
Melinda was preceded in death by her parents, Marlin and Jewell Whitaker of Knoxville.
She is survived by: Husband, Ronnie Moffitt; stepdaughter, Natacha Moffitt; sister, Carrie Cardwell; aunts, Teresa Huff, Rose Marley; grandmother, Rosie Clowers; special cousins, Valerie Clowers and Caleb Hickman; special nieces, Corinna Caldwell, Brianna Sky Charcon.
She also leaves behind nine grandkids and several nieces and nephews.
No services have been scheduled at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jones Mortuary.

ALBERT LIVELY

Albert Lively, 79, Oliver Springs, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born July 27, 1941, in Anderson County and had been a resident of Oliver Springs since 1963. Albert was a member of Friendly Welcome Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from the K-25 plant in Oak Ridge after working 27 years in security and as an operator. He had also worked 12 years at the Magnet Hosiery Mill in Clinton.
Albert was preceded in death by: Parents, Vester and Rosie Lively; brother, Ray Lively; mother-in-law, Mellie Lee Bunch; and great-grandson, Brantley Davis.
He is survived by: Wife of 58 years, Mildred; and daughters and their spouses, Sharel and Gene Davis, and Amy and Keith Miller; grandchildren, Curtis (Rachelle) Davis of DeRidder, La., Shelby (Matt) Vann of Wartburg, Chanse (Nicole) Davis of Oliver Springs, Emma (Michael) Raines of Clinton, Destany Davis of Kernersville, N.C., Savannah Davis of Knoxville, Luke (Miya) Miller of Oliver Springs; great-grandchildren, Caysen and Kinsley Davis, Kamdyn Davis, Madison Vann, Ada Raines, and Buckley Miller; brothers and sisters, Alvin (Janiece) Lively of Munster, Ind., Aline Russell of Oliver Springs, Sandy (Ken) Phillips of Crossville, Linda Edmonds of Andersonville, Homer (Linda) Lively of Oliver Springs, Fred (Lisa) Lively of Briceville, Julian (Linda) Lively of Briceville, Kathy (Langley) Duncan of Briceville, and Glenda (Wendell) Duncan of Briceville; as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
The family would like to thank Avalon Hospice, The Home Care Company, and especially Don Straut whom was his nurse from the beginning and took extra special care of Albert.

Elmer Hayes Haney, 82, a lifelong resident of Clinton, passed away Friday, May 7, 2021, at his home.
He was born in Anderson County Sept. 25, 1938, and was a lifelong member of Batley Baptist Church. Elmer worked many years as a custodian for the Oak Ridge School System and worked 23 years as a Painter for X-10. Elmer was proud to be a Mason and belonged to Omega Lodge #536 in Oliver Springs. Most importantly, Elmer Haney was a loving father to his children and “Papaw” to his grandchildren.
Elmer was preceded in death by: Wife of 49 years, Mary Ruth Haney; parents, Brance and Hallie Haney; sister, Bertha Duncan; brother, Willard Haney.
He is survived by: Children, Mike Haney and wife Pam of Blackshear, Ga., Kathy Ellis of Clinton, and Carol Townley of Crossville; grandchildren, Joshua Archer and wife Lindsey of Deer Lodge, Justin Ellis and wife Kelsey of Clinton, Meghan Ellis of Clinton; great-grandchildren, Makayla Archer, Jaxon Archer, and Baron Ellis; special niece, Deana Gangwer.
The Haney family would like to sincerely thank Quality Private Duty Care for the genuine love that was shown and the excellent care they provided to Elmer during his illness.
Visitation was from 5 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at Premier Sharp Funeral Home.
Funeral service immediately followed at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Luke Kidwell officiating.
He will be laid to rest at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at Batley Baptist Church Cemetery.
