Lady Mavs hit rough patch
The Anderson County Softball Lady Mavericks have hit some turbulence, as they have dropped four out of their last six games.
Over the weekend, Anderson County suffered defeats to Daniel Boone, Gibbs, and Elizabethton.
On Monday night, the Lady Mavs watched an 8-3 lead dissapear, and Halls stormed back to win 10-8.
Anderson County’s two wins came against Mount Juliet and Cookeville. Both of those wins came by a slim one-run margin.
Against Mount Juliet, senior third baseman would be the difference in showstopping fashion.
The Maryville College commit blasted a solo dinger in the top of the fourth, which would end up as the game-winner.
Against Cookeville, Anderson County needed a walk-off single from freshman second baseman Leah Freeman, to score Jada Reeves and earn a 5-4 win.
Nevertheless, Anderson County is still in a good position. The Lady Mavs are 23-10 overall, 8-2 in District 3-AAA and currently sit in second place.
This week, Anderson County travels to Clinton on Tuesday night, Powell on Wednesday night, and hosts Karns on Thursday.
All of those contests are big District 3-AAA ballgames, and three wins this week could largely impact their confidence and momentum.
Even with their recent losses, Anderson County is still a very dangerous, talented group.
The Lady Mavs will head to Clinton looking for a big rivalry win. First pitch is set for 6:00.
