The Clinton High School Baseball Dragons 2019 season came to an end on Monday night, in a 8-2 defeat to Karns.

Clinton entered the District 3-AAA Tournament as the eight-seed, and faced the top-seeded Powell Panthers last Thursday.

The Dragons took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the Clinton bats would quickly by silenced.

Powell scored four or more runs every inning, and Clinton would drop to the losers bracket with a 21-3 loss to the Panthers.

The highlight of Clinton’s tournament run would come during the Dragons elimination game against Oak Ridge.

Clinton trailed 7-3 heading into the top of the sixth, but would rally for four runs to tie the game.

After holding Oak Ridge scoreless in the bottom half of the inning, Clinton would get the chance to take the lead in the seventh, and they did.

The Dragons would keep the offensive momentum going by pouring in four more runs, and went into the bottom half of the inning with an 11-7 lead.

Oak Ridge rallied for three runs. With two outs and runners on the corners, Chase Lockard would send Clinton into the Karns matchup with a strike out to end the game.
