James Bearden, 80, Knoxville, passed away at his residence Wednesday, March 15, 2023.
James was born Dec. 26, 1942, in Clinton to Roy and Edna Bearden. James was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he worked as an air traffic controller for many years. After working with the Air Force as an air traffic controller he continued to work as an air traffic controller for another 15 years in Georgia. James was an avid football and basketball fan of the University of Tennessee. His greatest love was his wife, Barbara. He loved doing anything he could do to make her happy until her passing in 2012.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by” Loving wife, Barbara Bearden; daughters, Jamie Bearden Kilpatrick, and Sonja Jeanne Stinnet; brother, Charles Bearden.
He is survived by: Son, Jeff Bearden; grandsons, Gabriel Kilpatrick, and Asher James Kilpatrick; brother, Kenneth Bearden.
The family his honoring his wishes and there will no services.

RUBY LEE REED

Ruby Lee Reed, 85, Clinton, passed away Friday, March 10, 2023, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge after a brief illness.
She was born and raised in Anderson County, the daughter of Samuel Love and Ruby Blanche Foster, growing up on the family farm on Mountain Road.
Ruby worked for more than 40 years at The White Store and later Food City in Clinton, where she made many lifelong friends who became like family to her. She was a lifelong member of Hinds Creek Baptist Church in Clinton and enjoyed participating in worship services, often leading songs.
Ruby was preceded in death by: Husband, Bill Reed; longtime companion, Paul Meredith; parents, Love and Ruby Foster; brothers, S.L. and Ershal Foster; and sister, Joy Rice.
Ruby is survived by: Sisters, Dolly Foster and Karen Weis; brother, Don Foster; and many special nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Ruby especially loved to spend time with the children in the family as they were growing up, and they always loved the time they spent with her, many of whom referred to her house as, “Camp Clinton.” She was a kind-hearted and sentimental person and was loved by so many.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2023, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, with a memorial service to follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Michael Wallace officiating.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Woodhaven Cemetery in Powell.
Pallbearers will be Zain Sheikh, Matt Queener and Walter Mays Jr.

Janet L. Coleman, 75, Clinton, passed away Friday, March 10, 2023.
She was born Sept. 8, 1947, in LaFolette, and she was preceded in death by: Parents, Elmer L. and Nannie Stokes; elder brother, Charles E. Stokes; and husband of 43 years, Gary M. Coleman, all of Clinton.
Janet is survived by; Son, Mark E. Childress (Alica Childress); daughter, Marsha Coleman Stapleton (Martin Stapleton Jr.); grandchildren. Noel Childress Shipley (Kipp Shipley) of Gallatin, Will Childress of Clinton, Grace Stapleton, Abigail Stapleton; great-grandson, Knox Shipley; beloved sister-in-law, Naomi Stokes; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Janet was known for her career as the Customer Relations Manager at Fox Toyota for 25 years. She was also an AVON Representative for 36 years, including being honored by both companies for her milestones and accomplishments. She loved her children and especially her grandchildren and great-grandson. Janet enjoyed shopping and especially finding a good deal. Janet enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and friends.
The family will receive friends at Holley Gamble Funeral Home from 5 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2023, with funeral to follow with the Rev. Robbie Leach officiating.
The interment will be at Grandview Memorial Garden at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

KENNETH PAUL BROWN

Kenneth Paul Brown was born in Knoxville on Oct. 27, 1949, to James William Brown and Nancy Elizabeth Maples.
Ken married his bride, Pamela Renea Price, Sept. 3, 1968. Ken served in the United States Army with the 362nd Engineer Company in Vietnam. Ken was a proud Veteran. After the Army, Ken worked for many years at Western Auto and retired from Tech Coat, Inc., eight years ago.
Ken was a proud founding member of Providence Church in Claxton. Ken loved his family, black coffee, a good bargain, flowers, old cars, animals, his VA group brothers, and all things involving dirt and grease. Ken never met a stranger and was known for his one-of-a-kind laugh, hugs, witty jokes, willingness to help others, and always being on the go.
Ken is survived by: Wife, Pam; daughter, April Rainey (Mark); son, Nicholas (Courtnee); beautiful granddaughters, Ava and Adalee; brothers, Jimmy (Margaret), Wayne (Lisa), Johnny (Carol); sister, Cathy (Tommy Gilliland); dear friend, Dewayne; his cat, Leonard; and countless friends and family members.
The family received friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2023, with a funeral service following, officiated by Pastor David Simpson at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel.
Burial was at the East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2023.
Pallbearers were: Christopher Conner, Shane Conner, Barry Price, Dewayne Bradley, Leo Stinnett, and Bill Richards.

Maxie Lee Trammell, 95, passed away peacefully Friday, March 3, 2023, at her home in Clinton.
Maxie was preceded in death by: Husband of 61 years, Elmer Trammell; son, Jerry Lynn Young; parents, Claude and Ida Josephine (Bayless) Hatmaker; sisters, Lorraine Denney, Hazel Davis and Ima-Jean Ridenour.
She is survived by: Daughter, Janet (John) Ewing; son, Jimmy (Mary) Young and daughter Cindy (Chris) Helton; grandchildren, Jason (Becky) Ewing, Kymber (Nathan) McMurray and Tyler Young; great-grandchildren, Riley Ewing, Fox McMurray, Zade McMurray, Porter McMurray and Griffin McMurray; siblings, Caspern Hatmaker, Dorothy Stephens, Velma (Marvin) Poyourow, Carol Summers, Don Hatmaker and Grace (Ernest) Barnes; many, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Maxie loved the Lord, her family, her church family at Valley View and her community of Dutch Valley. A fearless prayer-warrior, one of Maxie’s proudest moments was when her husband, Elmer, was saved. Elmer would often say, “I didn’t know what happy was until I got saved!”
While her Bible was a source comfort, it also was a way to document all of life’s events. Flipping through her Bible, you’d see various notes, special dates, and many photos.
Maxie will be remembered as the best mom, a wonderful cook (chicken salad was her specialty) – and a fearless snake killer!
A graveside service will be held at Valley View Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2023, with the Reverend Allen Giles officiating.

Carol “Joyce” Gamble was born May 20, in Anderson County and passed away March 2, 2023, in Knoxville. Joyce never told her age so we will continue to honor that.
She was known for baking cakes for people’s birthdays in the community and singing “Happy Birthday” to family and friends. She loved her church, Deep Springs Baptist, which she hadn’t been able to attend the last couple of years because of her health.
Joyce was preceded in death by: Mother, Cora Lee Brewer; sister, Elizabeth “Tootsie” Cawood; brother, Richard Jay “R.J.” Brewer; nephew, Brian Brewer.
Joyce is survived by: Daughters, Patti Martin, Susan McQuestion; sons, Michael Gamble and wife Rhonda, Paul Gamble and wife Andrea; siblings, Joe Brewer and wife Judy, and Gene Brewer; grandchildren, Chrysti Jones, Adam Gamble, Sasha Ramirez and husband Brant, and Sean Runion; great-grandchildren. D’Kyea Knox, D’Vontae Jones, Daraon Jones, Destiny Jones, and Jaxon Gamble; great-great-grandchildren, Ke’Andre Jones and Jenni Knox; several nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Roger Lee Davis, 40, Knoxville, passed away unexpectedly at his residence Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023.
He was born in Knoxville on Oct. 13, 1982. Roger was a faithful and vital part of the Fist Apostolic Church of Knoxville. He sat in the front row of every service and made it a priority to greet you with a hug. Roger made an impact on those he met with his kindness and his pureness.
Roger was a daily listener and caller to The Tony Basilio Show WIBE 99.7 FM and 1040 AM. He frequently called Sports Talk with John and Jimmy on Sports Talk 990. He also called VOL calls and most any other call-in show that talks about Tennessee Athletics.
He became a sports talk celebrity in our community. He had such a love for his family, friends, church, and of course the VOLS.
Roger is survived by: Brothers, Isaiah, Noah Haskett, and Charlie (Stacie) Sammons; aunts, Cindy Sammons, Lisa Frank, and Janet (Albert) Whitfield; uncle, Ricky Davis; cousins, Roman Whitfield, Jordan Whitfield, Michelle Whitfield, Fadra Whitfield, and Zayne Whitfield.
Family will receive friends from 5 – 6:30 p.m. Sunday March 5, 2023, at First Apostolic Church in Knoxville, with a celebration of life to begin at 6:30 p.m. with Pastor Mark McCool and Bishop Billy McCool officiating.

Geneva Norton, Lake City, went to be with Jesus and her many loved ones peacefully at home Feb. 26, 2023.
She was born Jan. 29, 1943, and will be greatly missed by all of those who knew her. She was a lifelong member of Island Ford Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school for most of her life.
She was preceded in death by: Father and mother, Claude David and Nancy Ann Hawkins; brothers, Norris, Ronnie, Donnie, Jerry, and Lloyd Hawkins.
She is also preceded in death by sisters, Mary Sue Grant, Katherine Adrionick, Lilly Mae Hawkins, and Claudine Manning.
She is survived by: Loving and devoted husband of 56 years, Ronnie Norton; daughter and wonderful caregiver, Beverly Hill and husband Chuck; granddaughter and caregiver, Tiffany Norton; son, the Rev. Randy Norton and wife Andrea; sister, Faye Cooper and husband Curtis; sister, Cherry Ann Lane and husband Pat; grandchildren, Jesse Norton, Lilly Norton, and Jonathan Jenes.
She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews whom she cherished as well.
She loved and adored her friends, brothers and sisters in Christ at Island Ford Baptist Church and will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for all of the love and support they have received during their time of loss.
