POLLY 'RUBY' HENDERSON LONG

Polly “Ruby” Henderson Long, 96, Clinton, born July 4, 1925, in Buchanan County, Va., passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2022, of natural causes.
She was preceded in death by: Husbands, George S. Henderson Jr. and Bill Long; parents, Alden and Delilah Deel; three brothers; and three sisters.
She was a member of Valley View Baptist Church, Clinton, a member of Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening of roses and sewing. She especially loved talking with folks on the phone.
She is survived by: Randy Adkins and the Adkins family from Oliver Springs; Harold Long and the Long family from Clinton; and the Deel family from Virginia.
The family will receive friends at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home from 4 – 6 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2022, with the funeral service to follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor Allen Giles officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2022, at Anderson Memorial Gardens.

JOHNNIE IRENE WRIGHT HOSKINS

Johnnie Irene Wright Hoskins was born Saturday, Dec. 23, 1933, in Lick Creek and died from breast cancer Monday, May 16, 2022.
She was 88 years old. She was one of 16 children born to John Madison Wright and Pearl Daisy Shelby Wright. Johnnie’s greatest gift was her charismatic smile, and everyone was a friend she hadn’t met yet. Johnnie raised her children in the Solway community of Knox County and was active in the community, especially softball and other sports, and kept her kids busy that way, too. Her best friends were her family, and they had a tradition for decades to meet for lunch every Tuesday for “Tuesday Lunch Bunch.” She held several jobs over the years, including being a cook at the Knox County school of Fairview. She returned to work for AT&T as a telephone operator and retired in 1993.
She was preceded in death by: Parents; ex-husband and love of her life, Hobart G. Hoskins Jr.; son, Gary (Hobart III); and many siblings.
She is survived by: Son, Norman Gregory Hoskins and friend Terena Sowards; daughters, Pamela Bingham and husband Jim, and Patricia Miller and husband Bill.
Besides her four children, Johnnie had eight grandchildren, Garret (Kim), Charlie (Lori), Diane (Tripp), Josh (Jenn), Danielle (Terry), Jamia, Alisha and Woody; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by: Sisters, Ruth Zenner of Clinton, and Grace Overton of Lafollette; brother, Robert (Bobby) Wright of Ohio; and many other family and friends.
All who knew her knew her wonderful smile, her magnetic personality, and how she loved everyone. As she herself stated, “She has gone from one Heaven to another”.
The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Jones Mortuary from 5 – 8 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2022.
Johnnie’s funeral service will be held at Fincastle Church of God in Lafollette at 1 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2022 at 1:00 p.m.
Family and friends will follow in procession to Bakers Forge Memorial Cemetery following the funeral service.

JOHNNY EDWARD HATTON

Johnny Edward Hatton, 59, Clinton passed away at home Sunday, May 15, 2022, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Mr. Hatton was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and his favorite title “PaPa.” His lifelong passion was serving his community as a fireman and rescue technician. He served on the Marlow Volunteer Fire Department, Anderson County Mountain Rescue, and the Clinton Fire Department. In 2015, he retired from the City of Clinton as a fireman after 31 years of service. In addition to his passion of serving his community, Mr. Hatton also enjoyed farming with his companion, Bandit, by his side.
Mr. Hatton was preceded in death by: Grandparents, the Rev. Pete Melzoni and wife Elizabeth, Clyde and Jeanette Hatton; father, David Hatton Sr.; father and mother-in-law, Bill and Darlene McKamey; loving wife, Alma Hatton; brothers-in-law, Terry Long, and Billy and Brian McKamey.
Mr. Hatton is survived by: Daughter, Amanda Sutton and husband Christopher; son, Pvt. Caden Hatton; mother, Brenda Hatton; brother, David Hatton and wife Yolanda; sister, Elizabeth Long; brother-in-law, Terry McKamey and wife Michelle; sister-in-law, Jan McKamey; grandson, Tyler Sutton; family friend, Jeannie Greggory; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Holley Gamble Funeral Home from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2022, with funeral services officiated by the Rev. Donnie Moore following.
The Rev. Gary Smith will officiate the graveside service at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
The family will meet at Holley Gamble Funeral Home at 10 a.m. for processional.

Tressie L Johnson, 84, Clinton, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2022, at NHC Healthcare in Oak Ridge.
Tressie was the last surviving child of Sherman and Charity Brantley Loy and was born in Clinton Aug. 27, 1937. Tressie was longtime member and custodian at Farmer’s Grove Baptist Church. She retired from Levi Straus after working there for many years. Tressie enjoyed working in her yard, cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by: Parents; brothers, Edward, John, and Cleveland Loy; sisters, Willie Mae Rayfield, Flossie Loy, and Flora Register.
She is survived by: Children, Lisa Johnson (Cindy) and Ken Johnson; grandchildren, Reece Johnson, Krystal Johnson, Kenny Johnson; great-grandchildren, Mattison, Bradley, Jackson, and Evelyn

Charles Herbert Richmond, 84, passed away at NHC in Oak Ridge Sunday, May 15, 2022.
Charles was an elder of First Apostolic Church in Knoxville for more than 50 years, and he was also the song leader and superintendent. He became an ordained minister June 18, 1967. Charles enjoyed doing mechanic work and restoring antique cars. He loved driving his 18-wheeler.
He was preceded in death by: Parents, Carl and Dorothy Richmond; along with several brothers and sisters.
Charles is survived by: Loving wife of 67 years, Betty Richmond; son, Charles Richmond Jr. and wife Leigh of Powell; daughters, Kathy Williams and husband Mike of Powell, Debbie Newman and husband Jason of London; brothers, Mayford Richmond and wife Edith of Blount County, Ronnie Richmond and wife Kathy of Sevierville; sisters, Brenda Gregory of Sevierville, Mary Craig of Sevierville, Martha Whaley and husband Larry of Sevierville.
He is also survived by four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by many friends, family members, and church family.
The family received friends at First Apostolic Church in Knoxville, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2022, and his going home service will begin at 7:30 p.m. with Bishop Billy McCool and Pastor Mark McCool officiating.
Friends and family gathered at Greenwood Cemetery in Knoxville at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2022, with full Military Honors at his graveside.

DOROTHY MAE SISSON HALL

Dorothy Mae Sisson Hall, 88, Oliver Springs, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, May 14, 2022, in her home with her family by her side.
She was born on May 31, 1933. in Windrock to Alma Justice, who preceded her in death.
A popular student, Dorothy excelled in her studies and enjoyed playing basketball. While she was in high school, she coached girls basketball at the elementary school. She graduated in 1950 from Oliver Springs High School. She went on to attend the University of Tennessee and went to work for the federal government at the K-25 plant in Oak Ridge. Dorothy, a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Oliver Springs, met her future husband, Luther Stanley Hall, in the summer of 1941 during vacation Bible school at the church; she was nine years old and he was 11 years old.
Years later, Luke joined the United States Air Force. He returned home to Oliver Springs on a 30-day leave in the fall of 1952 and proposed to Dorothy. They married on Oct. 31, 1952, at First Baptist Church. The couple moved to Presque Isle, Maine, where they lived on the airbase until Luke had completed his military service. They returned to Oliver Springs in 1954. Dorothy and Luke welcomed a son, Luther Stanley Hall Jr., July 26, 1955.
Dorothy was a substitute teacher at both the Oliver Springs High School and the elementary school. She was proud to have started the first kindergarten program at the elementary school.
She taught countless local children and often recalled those experiences throughout her life.
In addition to teaching, She deeply loved her family and caring for them and their home.
In addition to her mother, Dorothy was preceded in death by: Son, Stanley; sister, Lynette Seeber; and a brother, Ben Irwin.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory: Husband of 69 years, Luke Hall of Oliver Springs; granddaughter, Leean Tupper of Clinton; niece, Janice Daugherty of Oliver Springs; nephews, Kelly Hall and wife Mary of Oliver Springs, Kent Hall and wife Gale of Sevierville; sisters, Marilyn Seeber of Kentucky and Mabel Irwin of Elizabethton; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Dorothy’s family will receive friends at the old Presbyterian Church, 400 W. Springs St. in Oliver Springs from noon – 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2022.
The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Kenny Rains officiating. Interment will follow in Anderson Memorial Gardens.

Doris Vanaman, most recently of Knoxville, and previously of Clinton, entered larger life Thursday, May 12, 2022.
She had a long full life of 90 years and touched so many lives with her sweet caring personality. Faith, family and friends were central to Doris’s life. A long-time member of New Salem Baptist Church in Clinton, she had recently moved her membership to Oliver Springs Baptist Church. Doris enjoyed birdwatching, gardening, and beachcombing for shells in Florida. Family and friends remember Doris as a devoted Christian, loving wife, mother, and grandmother and friend, whose encouragement, support, guidance, determination, and unconditional love in good times and challenging times will continue to inspire them and provide an exceptional example of how to live one’s life.
Doris was born Sept. 30, 1931 in Claremore, Okla., to James Louis and Maggie Leona Moore.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by: Grandfather, John Henry Horner from Ava, Mo.; 10 siblings; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Hudson who died in 1997. She later married Don Vanaman who died in 2017.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Paul Hudson, who passed away in 2014, and Paul’s wife, Regina, in 2021 and her son Nathan’s wife Nancy in 2012.
Cherishing her memory are: Son, Nathan Hudson of Oak Ridge; grandsons, Matthew Hudson of Oak Ridge and Will Hudson of Knoxville; granddaughters, Kristy Hudson Branson and husband Travis, Katie Hudson; and great-granddaughters, McKinley and Macey Branson, all of Atlanta.
The family will have a graveside service at 3 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2022, at Sunset Cemetery with the Rev. Kenny Raines officiating.

CHARLES EDWARD WALTON

Charles Edward Walton, 79, also known as “John Boy,” was called home to our Lord on May 8, 2022, after a long battle with Vascular Dementia.
Charles was born July 13, 1942, in Knoxville. He was a graduate of Clinton High School and served his country in the Tennessee National Guard. Charles eventually wed Evelyn Geraldine Walker, May 6, 1966, and they went on to have two daughters, Kimberly, and April.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Alpha Lodge 376 in Clinton, and worked for more than 40 years at TVA Bull Run Steam Plant as a boilermaker foreman.
His interests included restoring antique cars, home renovations, enjoying time with his grandchildren, and traveling to the Smoky Mountains.
He was predeceased by his father, Charlie Burl Walton, and his mother, Stella Mae Gregg.
Survived by: Two daughters Kimberly Everett (Steve) and April Schemmel (Roman); four grandchildren, Michael, Abigail, Elijah, and Jacob; ex-wife, Evelyn Geraldine Walton; and younger brother, Jerry Walton (Trula) of Heiskell.
He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Honorary pallbearers: Michael Schemmel, Steve Everett, Elijah Everett, Joe Hinson, Sean Cash (Big Sean), and Leo Elliott.
Family will be receiving friends at Mynatt Funeral Home from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, May 14, 2022.
Funeral will be held at noon with interment following at 1:30 p.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
