Lady Mavs roll to 17-0 win on opening day

The Anderson County Lady Mavericks opened the 2017 season with plenty of offensive fireworks on a chilly Monday afternoon with a 17-0 shutout at Campbell County.

The Lady Mavs jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. They added three more in the second and plated seven runs in the third.

The game was called after three innings.

Hannah Bruce got the start and the win as she went two innings and struck out five, allowing only two hits.

Kelsey Giles pitched one inning and had one strike out.

At the plate, Courtney Lively went 3-3 with 3 doubles and five RBI to go along with three runs scored.

Emelia Yelencich went 3-3 with a home run, three RBI, a walk, and three runs scored.

Bruce got the job done at the plate as well as she went 3-3 with four runs driven in.

Emilee Fowler went 2-4 with an RBI and two runs scored while Gracie Webb went 2-4 with two runs scored.

Mallorie Overton was 2-3 with two RBI while Molly Muncy was 1-1 with three runs scored, two walks, and an RBI.

The Lady Mavs return to action this weekend when they take part in the Tiger Classic on Friday and Saturday. Game times and opponents are to be announced. Anderson County will visit Christian Academy of Knoxville on Monday at 5:30 p.m. and they visit Karns on Tuesday. That game will be at 5:30 p.m. as well.
