ADFAC celebrating its birthday all year long
Jane Palmer, ADFAC’s 30th Chairperson, said “It’s just our way of saying ‘thank you’ to the community for 30 years of supporting us.
And, who doesn’t love cake? It’s a great way for us to not only say thank you but to spread the word about the great work going on at ADFAC.”
Most recently, ADFAC representatives visited all four utility companies that serve ADFAC’s service area including Oak Ridge Utility District, City of Oak Ridge Electric Department, Clinton Utilities Board and Powell-Clinch Utility Board.
ADFAC presented cakes to these groups as a way to say thank you for the many years of supporting Project SAFE and Project ASSIST.
SAFE and ASSIST programs provide much needed funds to ADFAC clients as they need help paying for utility bills. SAFE and ASSIST are made possible through fundraisers and donation programs hosted by the utility companies where utility company customers can make a contribution to the program and 100%-percent of the funds are funneled to ADFAC to be utilized in helping those in need.
According to Liz Herbes, ADFAC’s Social Service Program Director, “These programs have been a lifesaver to thousands of families through the years.”
When utility bills are high or a life situation causes a family to not be able to pay their utility bill – SAFE and ASSIST are there to help them through that rough time.
Herbes continued, “We see so many people who would be enduring a utility shut off if not for this program – so we wanted to say thank you to the many donors through the years and to these utility companies for making these programs so successful.”
ADFAC is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to helping our less fortunate neighbors become more self-sufficient through a variety of services in their Social Services and Affordable Housing Programs.
ADFAC, a United Way Partner, provides assistance to thousands of individuals and families each year. www.adfac.org
