Carmichael elected to TCA Hall of Fame

HOAGY (EARL) CARMICHAEL
Hoagy (Earl) Carmichael purchased his family owned concrete company in Clinton, Tennessee in 1981 from his uncle, who started the business in 1952.

He owned and operated Clinton Concrete Materials, Inc. for 17 years along with his wife Elaine Carmichael. Harrison Construction purchased Clinton Concrete in 1998 at which time he started selling concrete for Harrison.

He has always been more than happy to share the wealth of information he acquired during his 34 years in the concrete industry with co-workers and customers.

He has been instrumental in supplying concrete to both the residential and commercial markets in the Knoxville and surrounding counties. Customers always came back for the Hoagy factor.

His customers continue to ask about him even though he retired in December of 2015. Other extraordinary items to mention about Hoagy is that he always has a good story to tell, a smile on his face, and time to listen.

“It’s an honor and I’m grateful to be selected for this award and joining a group of distinguished men who gave most of their life, their time and dedication to the ready mix concrete industry. I want to say thanks to my family- my wife, Elaine, my daughters, Missy and Wendy, my son, Wes, for giving me their,” He said.

“In December 1998 when I sold to APAC-Harrison Construction, I started a new phase of my life, a work family. And for the next 18 years I found myself working with the best, most dedicated, hardest working and most professional co-workers in the ready mix concrete industry. To them I say “THANKS” for teaching, caring and putting up with this old man and his lack of computer technology. And “THANKS” to many contractors - Commercial and Residential, Concrete Finishers, Home Owners, Business Owners, for the relationships with them and some of their dads,” he said.
