Bishop named All-State
The hits keep coming for Anderson County High School’s Brittany Bishop.
Bishop was recently named to the All-State track team as a pole vaulter — the same event in which she won a state championship in May.
Bishop went unbeaten in pole vault in TSSAA-sanctioned meets last season en route to a state championship.
Bishop, who is competing in AAU track this summer, also won the 15-16 year old age group AAU regional qualifier and will compete for the AAU National Championship at Eastern Michigan University.
She won with a vault of 11 feet, six inches.
Others qualifying for the AAU National Championships include 13-year old Ella Brummett of Norris Middle School, who finished fifth in the shot put (with a personal record of 26 feet, four and three-quarter inches) and fourth in the javelin (also a personal record, 52 feet and one inch).
Joseph Randolph, Jr. of ACHS qualified for the AAU National Championships in the 17-18 year old age group with a fourth place finish in discus (88 feet, five inches) and shot put (38 feet, five and a quarter-inches).
Cameron Hardy advanced to the AAU National Championships with fourth place finish in the 800-meter run, finishing with a personal record of 3:01.23. He also qualified with a fourth place finish in the 1500-meter run (also a personal record, 6:06.57).
