Lady Mavs clinch regular season district title

The Anderson County Lady Mavericks clinched the District 4-2A regular season championship on Tuesday with wins over Grainger and Clinton at CHS.

The Lady Mavs defeated Grainger in the first match in three sets by score of 25-11, 25-13, and 25-7.

Senior Annalyse Leach had 19 points (five aces) and five digs.

Freshman Bailey Wilder had six points (one ace) and eight kills.

They won their second match of the evening when they beat homestanding Clinton in three sets by scores of 25-15, 25-15, and 25-14.

For the Lady Mavs, senior Emily Sparks had five blocks and three kills.

Senior Maddy Taylor finished with 12 points, 15 kills, and three digs.

For Clinton, senior Kindrix Bean finished with five points (four aces) and one kill.

Junior Annabelle Jackson finished with one point and nine digs.

On Friday and Saturday, Anderson County will play in the Ravenwood Wilco Tournament. Times and opponents are to be announced.

The Lady Mavs host Karns on Sept. 26. Freshmen will play at 4:30, JV will play at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity will play at 6:30 p.m.

On Thursday, Sept. 28, they will have Senior Night when they host Knox Central.

The JV will play at 5 p.m. and the varsity will play at 6 p.m.
