Oak Ridge 23

The Oak Ridge Wildcats used a great defensive effort and three touchdown passes by senior quarterback Johnny Stewart to pick up a 23-13 win over visiting Knoxville West.

It was a defensive struggle early as the Wildcats led just 7-0 at halftime but extended their lead to 16-0 after three quarters.

The win moves Oak Ridge to 3-2 on the season (2-0 in Region 3-5A).

They host Sevier County on Friday at 7:30 p.m.



Oliver Springs 15

Greenback 48

It was a rough night on the road for the Oliver Springs Bobcats as they fell at Greenback by a score of 48-15.

The Cherokees jumped out to a 20-lead in the first quarter. The Bobcats managed a 43-yard field goal from junior Zach Brooks but Greenback managed to build a 34-3 at halftime.

Freshman Gavin Hill and junior Mason Hill each rushed for a touchdown in the second half.

Senior Sean Ross led the Bobcats with eight total tackles. He also had 44 yards receiving.

The loss dropped Oliver Springs to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in Region 2-1A.

They visit Claiborne on Friday at 7:30 p.m.



Gibbs 21

Campbell Co. 41

The Campbell County Cougars rolled to a 41-21 win over visiting Gibbs on homecoming last Friday night.

Senior quarterback Zach Rutherford finished the game 26-32 for 239 yards and three touchdowns.

Shawn Marcum had nine receptions for 151 yards and and two touchdowns while senior Christian England ran for 159 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries.

Senior Elijah Phillips led the defense with 12 tackles while senior Gary Seibers registered nine tackles.

The Cougars (4-1, 0-1 Region 3-5A) have a bye this week and return to action on Sept. 29 when they host region rival Powell.
