Cross country teams compete at Victor Ashe Park
Anderson County High School’s Maddy Moody won the cross country meet at Victor Ashe Park in Knoxville last Tuesday with a time of 19:06.92.
Teammate Mollie Longmire took second place with a time of 21:12.82.
Other top local finishers of the field of 99 runners included:
• Corey Strike (ACHS) — 26:11.55
• Mackenzie Hensley (ACHS) — 27:12.82
• Josie Logan (ACHS) — 27:18.17
• Gracie Webb (ACHS) — 27:30.51
• Madison Marsee (Clinton High School) — 29:19.01
Oak Ridge won the team event while Anderson County finished sixth out of nine qualifying teams. Clinton did not have enough runners to qualify for the team standings.
On the boys’ side, Ridge Clark of Heritage won the event with a time of 17:43.98 but Kirby Logan of Anderson County took second place with a time of 17:46.71.
Teammate Colin Moody finished third with a time of 18:01.47 and Micah Sawyer of ACHS placed ninth with a time of 18:44.53.

Maryville won the team event while Anderson County took second place. Clinton took 12th place out of 15 teams in the event.
The region meet is scheduled for Thursday at Victor Ashe Park.
The girls will start at 10 a.m. and the boys race will follow.
