Oliver Springs 21

The visiting Coalfield Yellow Jackets rolled to a 41-21 win over Oliver Springs on Friday night.

The Yellow Jackets took the early 7-0 lead in the first quarter and tacked on two more touchdowns in the second quarter but the Bobcats had a score of their own as sophomore quarterback Blake Crass completed a 61-yard touchdown pass to junior Mason Hill.

Zach Brooks kicked the extra point to make it a 20-7 Coalfield lead at the half.

The Yellow Jackets got a touchdown and a two-point conversion in the third quarter but Oliver Springs got on the scoreboard again when senior Landen Everett scored on a six-yard run.

Brooks added the PAT and Coalfield led 28-14 after three quarters of play.

The Yellow Jackets added two touchdowns in the fourth quarter while the Bobcats managed a final trip to the end zone, courtesy of a 22-yard run by Hill.

The Brooks extra point made the final score 41-21.

Oliver Springs falls to 3-6 overall, 3-2 in Region 2-1A while Coalfield moves to 8-1 overall, 5-1 in the region.

The Bobcats wrap up the regular season on Friday night when they host Midway (5-4 overall, 2-3 in the region).

Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

Powell 7

The visiting Oak Ridge Wildcats jumped out to an early lead and never looked back against Powell on Friday night, winning 42-7.

The Wildcats posted two touchdowns in the first and second quarter while the Panthers mustered one score in the second quarter — a touchdown run by senior Jonathan McQueen.

John Hyman added the extra point but the Panthers trailed 28-7 at halftime.

It was the score for Powell on the evening as Oak Ridge scored a touchdown in the third quarter and added one in the fourth.

Wildcats’ quarterback Johnny Stewart finished 9-19 for 146 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for a touchdown.

Oak Ridge receiver Kai’Reese Pendergrass had three receptions for 53 yards and two touchdowns.

Powell quarterback Walker Trusley finished 22-36 for 189 yards.

Riley Bryant led the Panthers with 11 receptions for 97 yards.

Oak Ridge moves to 7-2 overall, 5-0 in Region 3-5A while Powell goes to 5-4 overall, 2-4 in region action.

The Wildcats visit Fulton (8-1, 5-0) for the region title on Friday, while the Panthers will host South Doyle (4-5).
