Moody returns to state

Anderson County High School’s Maddy Moody took second place in the Region 2 Cross Country race at Victor Ashe Park last Thursday morning.

Her time was 19:23.97.

The first place finisher among the 98 runners was Shila Kapoya of Knoxville Catholic, who finished with a time of 19:14.54.

With her finish, Moody will advance to the state cross country race for the second consecutive year.

Moody is the only runner from Anderson County or Clinton to qualify for the state — only those who finished in the top 10 at the region level advance to state.
