The playoff run ended for the Oliver Springs Bobcats last Friday night as they fell at Greenback by a score of 53-23.

Oliver Springs fell behind 15-3 in the first quarter before the home exploded for 31 points in the second quarter to lead 46-3 at the half.

Neither scored in the third quarter. The Bobcats added 20 points in the fourth quarter but Greenback added a score as well.

Oliver Springs wrapped up the 2017 season with a record of 5-7.



Knoxville West 6

Oak Ridge 16

The Oak Ridge Wildcats defeated the Knoxville West Rebels for the second time this season with a 16-6 win at Blankenship Field last Friday night.

The Rebels took an early 3-0 lead on a field goal by Logan Bowers. In the second quarter, Bowers added another field goal to give West a 6-0 lead with 8:54 remaining in the first half.

The Wildcats picked up a safety to cut the score to 6-2 and then senior quarterback Johnny Stewart found Kai’Reese Pendergrass on a 62-yard touchdown pass.

Carson McGhee added the extra point and the Wildcats surged to a 9-6 lead shortly before halftime.

At the 10:33 mark of the third quarter, Jordan Graham bolted 52 yards for an Oak Ridge touchdown.

McGhee’s PAT made it 16-6 and the Wildcats’ defense made the lead stand.

Oak Ridge will host Knoxville Catholic in the third round of the 5A playoffs on Friday at 7 p.m.

It is the first meeting ever of the two schools on the gridiron.
