Mavericks open 2017-2018 basketball season

The Anderson County Mavericks beat visiting Loudon by a score of 58-39 on Thursday to open the 2017-2018 basketball season.

The Mavericks jumped out to a 19-11 lead in the first quarter as Spencer Chandler, Braden Irwin, and Harrison Ogburn paced Anderson County, who was playing shorthanded because several key players were still playing football.

Anderson County extended its lead to 36-22 at halftime as Grant Hayes and Jordan Hembree got into the scoring column for the Mavericks.

The Redskins narrowed the Anderson County lead to 44-33 in the third quarter but that was as close as they could get. The Mavericks pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring Loudon 15-6.
