Lady Blaze celebrates sixth grade night with win
The Clinton City Schools Lady Blaze beat visiting First Baptist Academy of Powell by a score of 37-5 on Thursday evening.
The game was sixth grade night for the Lady Blaze and Blaze as they wrapped up their home schedule for their first season.
CCS jumped out to a big lead early, opening on a 9-0 run as Allie York, Bailey Burroughs, and Bralee Hall scored. The Lady Blaze led 11-1 after the first quarter.
It was more of the same in the second quarter as Ashton Chamblee joined Burroughs and York in the scoring column.
The Lady Eagles scored two field goals — their only points from the floor during the entire game.
The Lady Blaze led 23-5 at halftime.
The third quarter was more of the same as Lanee Carmichael opened scoring for CCS. Burroughs, Hall, and York followed with baskets, as did Kaleigh Carpenter.
The Lady Eagles were held scoreless in the third quarter and the Lady Blaze led 37-5.
Head coach Terri Kerley emptied her bench in the fourth quarter and neither team scored but the Lady Blaze came away with a big win.
York led the Lady Blaze with 15 points while Burroughs added 10.
