George earns ‘Conservation Farmer of the Year’ award

Christopher George has been named the 2017 Conservation Farmer of the Year in Anderson County.

This recognition is supported by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Tennessee Association of Conservation Districts (TACD), Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TDA), and, Anderson County Soil Conservation District (ACSCD).

George’s achievements are well deserving of this award.

He has implemented projects on his farm that greatly improve water quality, soil health, and better time management.

Best management practices completed on his farm include watering facilities, pipeline, heavy use areas, cross fencing for rotational grazing, pumping plant, spring development, and wetland restoration.
