County seats top 2018 ballot

Anderson County Democrat and Republic parties are slated for May 1 Primaries for County Mayor, Circuit Court Clerk, Trustee, Sheriff, County Clerk, Register of Deeds, and Road Superintendent.

Petitions have been picked up for all contests, but as of Thursday, Jan. 25, not all petitions have been returned.

Candidates have until Feb. 15 to turn in qualifying petitions for the May 1 Primary

In the County Mayor race a petition for incumbent Terry Frank and challenger Steve Emert (both Republicans) have been picked up from the Anderson County Election office, but only Emert’s has been turned in.

Two petitions have been picked up for the Circuit Court Clerk’s race, both by Republican candidates: Incumbent William Jones and challenger Rex Lynch. Jones has not turned in his qualifying petition.

Three Republicans have picked up petitions for the Trustee’s race: Regina Copeland, Scott Burton, and Scott Gillenwaters. Only Gillenwaters has turned in his qualifying petition.
