Mental evaluation ordered

Christopher Lee Roberts, 45, the man accused of in the Feb. 22 shooting death of 48-year-old Bradley Charles Bivens, was ordered to undergo a mental evaluation last Wednesday.

Anderson County General Sessions Div. 1 Court Judge Don Layton ordered Roberts to have the evaluation saying, “Let’s find out if he is competent to stand trial.”

Roberts was charged with Criminal Homicide and is being held without bond in the Anderson County Detention Facility.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call at 611 Sinking Springs Road, Clinton, Feb. 22, and found Bivens had been shot and killed.

Sheriff’s investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Criminal Homicide for Roberts the next day.

It wasn’t until Feb. 27 that law enforcement officals were able to take Roberts into custody.

He was found in a shed on a relative’s property.

Roberts was living in the shed, a release from the sheriff’s office said when he was arrested.
