North Clinton celebrates Arbor Day
Awards were handed out for students’ art projects to commemorate the importance of Arbor Day.
There were also speeches by City Mayor Scott Burton, Riley Sain of the Clinton City Tree Board and Diane Warwick with the TN Division of Forestry.
After the awards had been handed out and an Arbor Day Tree City Flag presented in front of the student body, the event moved outside.
Greg McNally, of Clinton Utilities Board, is a certified tree specialist and, with the help of Warwick and three students, demonstrated the proper way to plant a tree.
The students were also presented with a Plant Trees for America pamphlet, created by the Arbor Day Foundation.
The pamphlet detailed the proper way to plant a tree and why trees are vital to our planet.
Arbor Day has been a prominent celebration around Anderson County this year due to cities such as Clinton and Rocky Top gaining and maintaining or seeking status as a Tree City.
