Riley Scarbrough takes second at region

Last week, Clinton Middle School eighth grader Riley Scarbrough made the news with a first place individual medal in the ETMSGA District 1 Golf Tournament at Three Ridges Golf Course.

She repeated that finish for a second Tuesday in a row at the ETMSGA Region 1 Tournament, also held at Three Ridges Golf Course.

Her score of 101 on the 18-hole round was enough to secure the low round of the day on the girls side of the scoreboard, winning herself an instant berth in the ETMSGA State Sectional Tournament at Green Meadows Country Club on Monday, May 14.

Scarbrough’s continued poise and dominance off the tee is to thank for this huge win for CMS. Her round started slow with lost balls on the first two holes. She also had some early trouble on the putting surface.

On the second nine, Scarbrough really turned it on, hItting nearly every green in regulation, finally winning the tournament, after all was said and done, by two strokes.
