WDVX holding ‘Camper Fundraiser’ Aug. 1
On August 1, East Tennessee’s Own 89.9 WDVX is kicking off a one-day fundraising campaign to save the WDVX Camper.
WDVX started broadcasting in November of 1997, operating out of the “infamous camper.”
For the next five years, the radio station broadcasted “day and night from the 16 – foot structure that included three studios.
There is nothing that better represents the history of one of east Tennessee’s most important radio stations than the camper where it all began.
Per WDVX’s website, “Many listeners and fans have asked about “The Camper” recently and have expressed a desire to see it at more events.”
But in order to do so, the station needs a little help.
WDVX is a completely independent and listener supported radio station, meaning it’s up to the dedicated and appreciative listeners to help actualize this goal.
