Fairview Elementary cross country announced

Parents who run and/or cycle are encouraged to volunteer to accompany kids on runs.

Elementary School Cross Country is a sport supported and managed by the Knoxville Youth Athletics Program and is not a sanctioned sport in the Anderson County School System. Fairview Elementary Cross Country is not affiliated with Fairview Elementary School.

The cross country team for students (boys and girls) in grades 3-5 Fairview, Andersonville and Norris Elementary Schools.

The team will have five regular season meets, starting Sept. 1 and the area championship meet will be Oct. 1.

The state championship meet is scheduled for Oct. 20.

The team is coached by Zack Hardy.

Practices will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Song Bird Trail Below Norris Dam Starting Aug.14.

Registration must be completed before first practice.

Team fees are $50 (due on or before Aug. 21 and includes regular season meets, area championship, jerseys and post season awards.

The coaches are volunteers who have stepped forward to insure that students have an opportunity to take part in this sport.
