Powell 42
The Powell Panthers continued their strong start with a 42-0 thrashing of Cumberland County last Friday night.
The Panthers rolled early as quarterback Walker Trusley connected with Bailor Walker on a 32-yard touchdown pass.
James Hyman kicked the PAT to make it a 7-0 game.
A couple of minutes later, Fernando Frances scored on a 12-yard run and the Hyman extra point made it 14-0.
Powell’s Tyler Kirkess blocked a punt to set up the Panthers in Cumberland County territory.
Quaterback Deuce Shreve threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Carson Cole.
The PAT by Hyman made 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Trusley came back on for the second quarter and found Kirkess for a 15-yard touchdown pass. Hyman added the extra point and Powell led 28-0.
Before the half, Shreve scored on an eight-yard run and Hyman kicked the PAT to make it 35-0 at the half.
The Panthers scored one last time — an eight-yard touchdown run by Harold James in the fourth quarter.
Paige Rood kicked the extra point to end scoring.
The Panthers (2-0) will host perennial power Fulton (2-0) in a big region matchup on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Campbell Co. 7
David Crockett came in and rolled to a 28-7 win over Campbell County.
The visitors led almost the whole game as the Cougars picked up a late score to break up the shut out.
Stats were not available at press time.
The Cougars (1-1) will travel to Oak Ridge (2-0) on Friday to open region play with the Wildcats.
Dobyns-Bennett 12
Oak Ridge 41
The Oak Ridge Wildcats spanked visiting Dobyns-Bennett 41-12 last Friday.
Oak Ridge took the early lead when Tre Jackson scored on a two-yard run.
Brady Hutson added the extra point to give the home team a 7-0 lead.
After the Indians scored a touchdown and missed the extra point, the Wildcats carried a 7-6 lead into the second quarter.
Oak Ridge used the second frame to get separation as quarterback Herbert Booker scored on a 10-yard run.
Jack Replogle ran in the two-point conversion to make the lead 15-6.
Hutson then recovered a D-B fumble and returned it 80 yards for a touchdown.
The extra point attempt failed but the Wildcats led 21-6.
Just before the half, Booker threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Johnathan Stewart. Hutson added the PAT to make it 28-6 at the half in favor of Oak Ridge.
Jordan Graham opened scoring in the third quarter for the Wildcats with an 80-yard touchdown run.
Hutson’s kick made a 35-6 Oak Ridge lead.
Booker added a touchdown on a 15-yard run later in the quarter.
The extra point attempt failed.
The Indians added a touchdown late to make the final 41-12.
The Wildcats (2-0) will open region play on Friday when they host Campbell County (1-1).
Oliver Springs 20
Roane County 0
The Oliver Springs Bobcats moved their record to 2-0 with a 20-0 win at Roane County on Friday night.
Oliver Springs took a 6-0 lead when Mason Hill scored on a four-yard run with 5:31 remaining in the first quarter. The extra point attempt failed.
The Bobcats extended their lead in the second quarter when Trey Boswell scored on a 22-yard run.
Blake Crass completed a pass to Matthew Armstrong for the two-point conversion and Oliver Springs led 14-0 with 5:15 left in the first half.
The final score of the game came late in the third quarter when Boswell hit pay dirt from 30 yards out.
The two-point conversion attempt failed but the Bobcats led 20-0, an advantage the defense maintained.
The Bobcats are open this week but return to action on Sept 7 when they visit Northview Academy.
