New elementary cross country teams have meet in Knox Co.
A whopping 478 girls ran in the elementary cross country race at Victor Ashe Park in Knoxville last Saturday.
Teams from around the area competed in the Knoxville Youth Association Fall Classic, among them were two teams making their debut — the Fairview Panthers and the Clinton City Schools Blaze.
The girls’ race was won by Lia Banovac, who was unattached to any team. Her time was 5:56.78.
Ava Moody of Fairview took eighth place with a time of 6:33.18.
Marieke Schley, also of Fairview, was 14th with a time of 6:37.92.

On the boys’ side, 525 runners competed and Hamilton McDonald of Sequoyah won with a time of 5:29.50.
Cameron Hardy of Fairview was the top local finisher, claiming 16th place with a time of 5:56.84.
