The dream of South Clinton Inclusive Playground, organized by the Erb and McNally families, has been made possible by so many community sponsors, and it’s the generosity of our citizens that will leave a resounding legacy.

Former Trustee and Clinton icon, Patsy Fraker Stair Lomeli has recently joined the project to provide shade and picnic tables at the inclusive park.

Her son John “Johnny” Stair and daughter Gwenda Ford have written a letter to honor their mother’s dedication to serving others:

“Mom has always been a major supporter and advocate of her community and charitable causes, especially the youth and elderly.

“When this playground in South Clinton grew into a reality, we knew that she would want to be a part of this great venture.

“We remember in our youth that mom was always involved in volunteering her time and monies for the community such as South Clinton Elementary PTO, being the PTO president for a period of time, working the concession stands for all kind of events and athletic games involving a little league baseball, Optimist Club basketball, and cheerleading to name a few.

“Most people now associate our mom with being the Anderson County Trustee for eight terms and working in the Courthouse for 52 years before retiring.

“We are sure during those years, many people received personal cards, newspaper clippings, Bible verses, funeral, wedding or assisted living visits paying her respects and uplifting spirits.

“Mom has been the ultimate giver and friend to all people in all walks of life and passed those traits to her children and grandchildren.

“It will give our mom the deepest satisfaction and make her heart glow that she has contributed to such a great playground and facility that will benefit children from all walks of life and challenges and enable their parents and grandparents to enjoy watching them play. It will also make her smile to think, ‘That is where Johnny and Gwenda played when they were youngsters!’ She has always loved that about South Clinton!”

The Patsy Fraker Stair Lomeli family contribution will provide a 24 ft x 24 ft shade structure, three standard picnic tables, one handicap accessible picnic table, and concrete.

Renovations of the park bathroom and pavilion are completed, and the playground is scheduled to open in spring 2019.
