Simon Byrne Judicial Crime Task Force (CTF) Director
Anderson County law enforcement leaders, acting as the Board of Directors of the 7th Judicial Crime Task Force (CTF) named Simon Byrne as the new director of the agency.

Byrne succeeds for director, Russell Barker, who was elected as Anderson County Sheriff.

The CTF is an independent law enforcement agency created by Anderson County municipalities, the Sheriff’s Office, and District Attorney General Dave Clark.

The CTF primarily investigates drug and violent crimes.

Because the agenst of the CTF are given statewide law enforcement powers they may pursue Anderson County cases beyond the limits of Anderson County. CTF agents frequently work with state, federal, and neighboring law enforcement agencies.

Byrne served the U.S. Marine Corps and has been a law enforcement officer with the Oak Ridge Police Department, the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, as well as an agent and Deputy Directors of the CTF. Byrne has completed his bachelor’s degree and is working towards his master’s degree.

“Simon Byrne has consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic, good leadership qualities and exceptional abilities in dealing with challenging law enforcement situations.

He received the unanimous confidence of our chiefs and Sheriff and we are very pleased to have him as the CTF director,” CTF Board Chairman and District Attorney General Dave Clark said.
