On Thursday, Nov. 9, Clinton City School Board unanimously voted to approve tenure to three outstanding educators. Under the most recent tenure law, teachers can receive tenure upon working for a district for five consecutive years while obtaining a level of effectiveness of a four or five for the last two consecutive years. Considering a level three is considered effective, this is not an easy bar to reach. The following teachers achieved this highly acclaimed status this year: Lauren Murphy, 6th grade teacher at Clinton Elementary School; Katie Beal, Kindergarten teacher at South Clinton Elementary; and Suzie Boyd, system-wide literacy coach. Congratulations to each of these educators. One of the most impactful indicators of student success is the classroom teacher’s effectiveness. Levels of effectiveness were recently released by the Tennessee State Department of Education, and all current Clinton City Schools’ teachers received an effective/highly effective ranking.
