CHS JROTC paid a visit for Veteran’s Day

Jackson Brewer, Jacen Pride, Tanyan Pollard, and Ethan Slaven

On November 11th, the JROTC Clinton High School group and Clinton Middle School band and choir held an assembly for the 8th graders. Not only was this to celebrate and remember the brave citizens who protect our great country, but it also was supposed to promote the JROTC group in CHS

The visitors displayed their different branches, different marches, and how the program can benefit upcoming CHS Freshmen.

After the program ended, some of the members of JROTC came to the classes to answer any further questions.

“At the high school level, students participate in JROTC ( Junior Reserve Officer Corps). This program DOES NOT require that the students who join must join the military. JROTC is actually more of leadership program with some military aspects. Our Program participates in a variety of different events,¨ said Kaylee Puleo, a member of the CHS JROTC program.

“JROTC can benefit and prepare a student who is either planning to go to college or join the military immediately after graduating… JROTC can also help a student that is planning to go straight into the military or doing ROTC in college.”

These are the sorts of opportunities that Clinton Middle School: College and Career Academy students are always looking into as we look further into the future.

Explore 2 Soar club has Hawks taking big swings

Catherine Meredith, Emilee Metcalf, Kira Murphy, and Tara Pickel

CMS students are getting their swing on! One of our many amazing Explore to Soar Clubs is the Golf Fundamentals Club with Mr. Graham Richardson, the Art teacher.

Here’s Mr. Richardson’s swinging summary of the club:

“The goal is to teach students that will not get an opportunity to play golf to learn a proper swing. Some weeks we practice putting and we practice in the band room because it’s carpeted. The carpet is like real green. On warmer days, we hit off turf boards to perfect our swings. On cold days, we are inside the gym working on chipping.”

Thanks to the help of Mr. Richardson, students are learning a proper swing, putting, chipping, and so much more!

Until next week...
