Brothers jailed in seperate incidents
Sometimes holiday stress takes its toll on families.
At about 7:15 a.m., Dec. 19, Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an alleged domestic disturbance, with shots fired, at a home on Blowing Spring Road, Clinton.
The victim, Austin Ezell, 27, Clinton, told ACSO Deputy Zach Bates that his brother, Corey Ezell, 29, Clinton, broke into his home and entered his room making death threats.
The argument led to Austin firing a gun at his brother and the vehicle he arrived in, the Sheriff’s Office report states. It was not immediately clear if Corey was struck by a bullet, but the vehicle Corey arrived in was seized and taken to the Anderson County impound lot.
Austin reported he and his brother (Corey) had an altercation the day before, Dec. 18, which resulted in Austin being shot in the leg.
Emergency medical personnel was dispatched to the scene to check his injuries from the night before.
He was transported to the hospital and later released.
The hunt for Corey ended quickly after Crime Task Force (CTF) agents received a tip that he was hiding in a camper at a Lake City Highway address. CTF Agents and deputies from the Sheriff’s office converged on the camper and made the arrest without incident.
Corey was checked out by Emergency Medical personnel after stating he was grazed by a bullet fired from his brother — presumably from the incident on the morning on Dec. 19.
Corey was checked and treated at the scene but was not transported to the hospital. He was booked at the Anderson County Detention Facility on three active warrants unrelated to the Dec. 19 incident: Aggravated assault and two counts of reckless endangerment.
Dec. 19’s events resulted in new charges: Aggravated assault, aggravated burglary, domestic assault, and theft of property 0-$1,000.
But at approximately 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, the Sheriff’s Office was called back to the property on Blowing Springs Road for a domestic disturbance between Austin Ezell and his mother.
Yelling and cursing at his mother, the report states, Austin threw a bowl of oat meal at her and threw and broke other dishes — and a chair — which caused his mother to fear for her safety.
He was taken into custody without incident and charged with Domestic Assault.
He is being held at the Detention Facility with a $10,000 bond.
The shooting incident is still under investigation.
