A hard test for AC, Clinton wrestlers

The wresting teams from both Clinton and Anderson County High Schools traveled to Bearden High School last week.

At the Bearden Duels, both teams matched up against the Tornadoes of Alcoa High School, and the Sevier County High School Smoky Bears.

Alcoa would return to Blount County with team victories over both the Dragons (42-12) and Mavs (30-18).

Sevier County would also make the trip home victorious over Clinton (66-18) and Anderson County (57-21).

For the Dragons, against the Tornadoes, Clinton’s 12 points would come from two match wins.

Competing in the 113-lb. class, Anthony Berg defeated Dakota Harrison (fall 2:38).

In the 285-lb. class, Trevor Linderman earned the win over Justin Kinder (Fall 1:38).

Linderman also earned six of Clinton’s 18 total points against Sevier County, winning by forfeit. In the 220-lb. class, Gavin Bollinger also picked up six points and a win by forfeit.

Clinton’s John Seiber earned the remaining six Dragons’ points, defeating Dylon Pritchett by fall, in the 120-lb. class.

Against Alcoa, Anderson County’s Jesse Muncey defeated Noah Riden (Fall 3:12), in the 152-lb. class. In the 195-lb. class, Joshua Moles earned six Mavs’ points over Aaron Tipton (Fall 4:22).

James Bailey would wrap up Anderson County’s scoring by defeating Dakota Harrison (Fall 3:27), in the 113-lb. class. Against Sevier County, the Mavs would pick up three points out of the 152-lb. class, when Tyler Muncey won (Dec 11) over Hunter Fromm.

Moles would tally his second 195-lb. class victory, coming by fall over Omar Fabion. Anderson County earned their last 12 points out of the 220-lb. and 285-lb. classes, as James Vandergriff and Matthew Murphy won by forfeits.

Both teams will be back in action early on in 2019. On Jan. 5, Clinton travels to Tennessee High School for the “Brawl in the Hall.”

That same evening, Anderson County will travel to Blount County for the Maryville Open.
