On Dec. 1, the AAU Cross Country National Championships were held at Victor Ashe Park in Knoxville. There were more than 1,800 athletes participating from around the country, as well as Canada, Puerto Rico, and Bermuda. Among those competing were Marieke Schley (left), a 5th grader from Norris Elementary, and Cameron Hardy, a 4th grader from Fairview Elementary. Marieke placed 75th in the 11-year-old girls 3,000 M with a time of 17:41.6. Cameron placed 16th in the nine-year-old 3,000 M with a time of 14:11.66.
