Dragons start season above .500
Clinton Baseball wins last three games
The Clinton Dragons Baseball team enters the week of Spring Break with a 3-2 record.
After dropping their first two contests to Knoxville Central, at the start of last week, the Dragons ended the week with three straight wins—defeating Fulton then Harriman twice.
In both Clinton’s 5-2 and 8-2 District 3-AAA defeats, the Dragons failed to get the bats going. Over the course of the two contests, the Dragons had a total of 40 at-bats, but only managed to produce five hits—a .125 average.
However, the Dragons showed that they have the ability to produce offensively and score runs, in their 20-10 win over Fulton. No, that is not a typo—Clinton responded last Wednesday night, by scoring 20 runs on 11 hits, in 20 at-bats.
The Dragons put seven runs on the board in the bottom of the third inning to take a 8-2 lead. Yet, Clinton gave up seven runs in the ensuing top half of the fourth.
The bottom of the fifth was a nightmare for Fulton defensively. The Falcons’ pitcher walked four Clinton batters, and beamed three. Literally handed the Dragons seven free bases. If that does not seem like enough of a struggle, Fulton would only find one out, and committed two defensive errors, as well.
ical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue.
