Wright to be inducted in Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame

Anderson County native Jody Wright is one of nine inductees in the 2019 Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame.

The 38th annual dinner and induction ceremony will take place July 25 at the Knoxville Convention Center.

Wright has been head basketball coach at Fulton High School for 34 years and has led the Falcons to state titles in 2008, 2009 and 2016. He has also coached the Falcons to five runner-up finishes: 1996, 1998, 2015, 2018 and 2019.

The Falcons have made 18 state tournament appearances under Wright.

Duke football coach David Cutcliffe, a former offensive coordinator at Tennessee, will be the guest speaker.

Doors open at 6 p.m. with the induction ceremony to follow at 7:30. Tickets can be purchased at gkshof.org and all proceeds benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley.

Other inductees include:

David Meske, who has guided Webb School to seven state football titles;

Terry Brown, golfer Walt Chapman, track and field athlete Randy Jenkins, basketball player and coach Chris Jones, track and field athlete Kameisha (Bennett) Martin, contributor George Sampson and swimmer Davis Tarwater.
