Help letter carriers ‘Stamp Out Hunger’ May 11

EDITOR:

Plans are underway for the 27th Annual Letter Carrier Food Drive, scheduled for Saturday, May 11.

The second Saturday in May has long been the day when letter carriers step forward and join co-workers, family members, friends, and community partners to collect food along their mail routes.

Letter Carrier Food Drive is proudly recognized as the largest single-day food drive in the country.

Food items collected at this year’s food drive in Clinton will be donated to local food banks in Clinton.

Last year, more than 1,500 pounds of food was donated and 765 families were fed last year with this drive. Letter Carriers hope to increase donations in 2019.

Helping Stamp Out Hunger is easy. Customers are asked to leave a bag of non-perishable food items in their mailbox on Saturday, May 11th.

Your letter carrier will pick up donations and return them to the collection point at the Clinton Post Office.

Examples of non-perishable items include:

• Peanut butter

• Canned soup

• Canned meats and fish

• Canned vegetables, fruits and juices

• Boxed goods (such as cereal)

• Pasta and rice

More information is available at www.helpstampouthunger.com or www.facebook.com/StampOutHunger, and follow the drive at www.twitter.com/StampOutHunger.
