Don’t forget us: You will be us before you know it

EDITOR:

I went to the Senior Center and had Easter dinner.

I took my mother, sister and my aunt. It was a nice meal and a chance to enjoy some company.

The center was so small we had to go outside and back around through the kitchen to get our food. Some people had to have their food brought to them.

There was no room to move for walkers, crutches, or wheelchairs.

We enjoyed ourselves, but we were eating back-to-back and elbow-to-elbow.

Some people may feel that seniors (older people) are useless.

We are the grandmothers and grandfathers of Clinton.

We all worked and supported the town and growth of Clinton. Our bodies are worn down from all the hours of overtime, lifting, raising children, and sometimes grandchildren.

We deserve a place where we can congregate and not have to stay home alone.

We’ve paid our taxes. Our checks have been reduced by Medicare ever since the first check.

Please do not forget us because you will be us before you know it.

I would like to mention Greg McBroom, a Sheriff’s Office member, who helped served the food — a good man who’s help was appreciated.

Thank you,

Sharon Battle
