Children’s Museum hosting garden party May 17
The Children’s Museum of Oak Ridge will host a Garden Party on Friday, May 17, to benefit the Kids Go Green Environmental Center and Gardens at the Museum, where children experience planting, harvesting, tasting and cooking vegetables, fruit and herbs from the garden.
The Garden Party will be held at 6 p.m. May 17 at Willow Ridge Garden Center and Landscaping, 97 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge.
Guests will enjoy a relaxing evening, with dinner prepared by Knoxville Chef Paul Moody, who visits the Children’s Museum often with his children. Chef Moody will bring his Lanai Food Truck, offering guests a choice of four different entrees.
Willow Ridge staff will present a container gardening program, and guests will have a chance to explore and shop at the private event.
Tickets are $50 and can be purchased at the Museum, online at http://bit.ly/cmorgardenparty, or by calling the Museum at (865) 482-1074.
Proceeds support the Kids Go Green Environmental Center and Gardens, which opened in 2012 and hosts activities, classes, summer camps and events. Among the garden features are outdoor education spaces, a pavilion, water feature, rock garden, meadow garden, and seven raised planting beds.
The Museum received an Award of Excellence for the permanent garden exhibit in 2013 from the Tennessee Association of Museums.
