It was a day meant for softball. The Clinton Youth Girls Softball League played its championship games last Saturday at the field next to Clinton Community Center.

The games were competitive. And fun.

The Lady Sluggers won the 6-Under championship.

The River Monsters proved just that — ‘Monsterous” in the 8-Under championship while taking a 13-5 win from the Sassy Sluggers. The game wasn’t decided until the final frame when the River Monsters exploded offensively.

In the 10-Under matchup the Lady Thunder squeaked by with a 10-6 win over the Shooting Stars.

The closest game of the day came in the 12-Under title when the Rampage pulled through for a 9-8 win over the Wild Thangs.

In the 14-Under title match the Lady Crushers cruised to a 9-1 win over the Lady Patriots — a team that had been dominating earlier in the tournament.
